Lee and Dale meet up after a hectic week at the harbour where Dale has been "so busy!" With plenty going on in the harbour, the end of the week sees Dale hosting the Prince of Wales as he takes him on a boat ride on the new pilot vessel John Guy. Lee enters into the world of competitive golf with mixed results - are more coaching sessions on the way or will he buy his way to a lower handicap?

BBQ options, lawn care and celebrity spotting are all part of this weeks catch up between the two brothers-in-law.

SPEAKER_00

Welcome to Highlands to Islands. I'm Lee, chatting to you from the Highlands.

SPEAKER_02

And I'm Dale, living life here on the Isles of Scilly.

SPEAKER_00

Each week we'll swap stories from the Highlands to the Islands, including local news, DOI disasters, barbecue bragging, cold frustrations, all weird and wonderful stuff that fills our weeks.

SPEAKER_02

Basically, it's two brothers in laws having a laugh, trying to one-up each other, and bringing you along for the ride.

SPEAKER_00

So, grab a cup of pint, and let's jump into today's episode. Dale, what's been happening on the docks this week?

SPEAKER_02

We have gone up market this week with a uh royal visit at the end of the week. My mate Will. I can't say that. The boss. Yeah, it's been an interesting week and a very, very, very busy week. Um, no less than seven uh cruise ships visiting the island this last week. Um uh pilotage exemption certificate exams, uh landing craft, fishing boats, lots of yachts uh heading this way. Now we've got um some decent weather, uh fog interruptions of flying, which meant lots of transfers of people onto the ferry, double sailings of the ferry because it's uh start of Whitson week. Um, and to top it all off at the end of the week, a royal visit by Prince William. So enough to uh to keep us busy. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So I'm well, I'm gonna I'm gonna make a uh executive decision. Everything apart from the last one, people give a fuck about. Everyone's gonna want to know about Prince uh Will and uh what's he like?

SPEAKER_02

Well, I can tell you, double sailing of the Salonians, a heck of a day.

SPEAKER_00

Uh I mean my Instagram was just literally filled of photos of him and you, uh mostly him, but you were always there in the background looking very smart. I noticed.

SPEAKER_02

And I'm sure he enjoyed meeting me. You know, I'm sure maybe probably the highlight of his week, if I'm honest. You know, Aston Villa win a European Cup uh competition is probably second to meeting the harbour team at St. Mary's.

SPEAKER_00

Well, yeah, you got some true FaceTime there. I mean, you know, interestingly, I mean I like it is a question for you. You know, you you do get a bit of one-on-one time with him, don't you? You're on the boat. You know, that's a proper close interaction there. How is he? How is he?

SPEAKER_02

He is he's a lovely guy, uh, and very honestly, he's a he is a lovely guy. Um, genuinely interested. Um, I don't think I could say the words down to earth to uh you know the future king, but it uh as normal as a person as you would expect it to be. I mean, people I and I remember when I started with the Dutch Abe when you when you meet royalty, and we've met uh been fortunate enough to met the late queen, uh the now king, uh, and now of course Prince William and children and various other royals as well, through the the nature of the job. But the um the takeaway from it is they're really lovely that and genuinely interested, and and we have some um chats obviously mainly about work and what we're doing, um, but but otherwise about silly in general, about life on the islands, um, and certainly with Prince William, he's genuinely interested. We went up to Tresco to collect them and the shiny new pilot boat, the John Guy. But we also took Pegasus up at the same time, and I got some great pictures of the both boats on um, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I saw that it's a good rep it it didn't I didn't because I haven't seen him, I've only seen a picture of him in isolation. I didn't realize how big uh the John Guy is in comparison. Um you know, Pegasus is a wasn't a bad size, but uh yeah, it was nice to have them both there alongside.

SPEAKER_02

So um he had been staying on Tresco the night before, so he came down um with my line manager, boss, if you like, Matthew, or Matt, um, who was staying with me for the week as well. So that that added an extra um element to the week. Um but yeah, we had we I said to him um I've I've met him a couple of times now, or more than a couple of times, but um I said, oh so we're we're gonna we're gonna show you around this new boat that we've purchased and uh and justify it, you know. So um I gave him a tour round at Old Gramsbury because it was nice and quiet there. It was um, you know, we're we're out the way. And before we went back to sea and before he started his official engagement day, it was a chance to do that there. So okay, right, cool. And and you know, we we we can do a we can explain. I could talk all week about the boat, but we we could have explained a lot of things alongside and on the on the deck there. But I'd said to him, look, we've got we've shut the boat down, we've got the engine room and all the hatches open down below. I'd like to show and show you, but you don't have to. He's like, No, absolutely. So he was he was keen, he was down there. Um, you know, crouched down in the uh in the fuel tank room, uh explaining all the the ins and outs of the new boats, uh, through to the engine room with the steering gear compartment at the after end and up the ladder, up up the hatch on the bow. Um, so properly full into it, um and then into the cabin. Um again talking about the boat, introduced them to Reese. And uh we pulled away from Tresco. Reese had a nice chat with him about the the the capabilities of the boat, really. Uh and then they said, right, it's uh your turn to drive. So so um he jumped in the hot seat. Um and he's driven a boat before you can tell. He nailed it. He was he was really good actually, and I'm not just saying that, he was yeah, he got it straight away. Um very impressive. Um, and then we we had a nice chat with him.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, he used to fly helicopters, mate. I'm just saying, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Well, we're we were saying to him, you know, the the the the beak on the bow, and it's uh it's tendency to the the boat will follow where the beak is pointing, and uh and you can feel it, it's it's an odd thing to try and describe. You can feel it when you're driving it, um, and explaining that to him. And and Reese saying things like that, you know, if you're okay, just steer for this.

SPEAKER_00

Um, and but in the back of your mind, you're you're thinking, yeah, he he did fly helicopters, and yeah, and of course he'd done some time in the navy, so he would have done uh at least done his uh uh ticket on there, I'm sure.

SPEAKER_02

Um yeah, but we've seen some navy small boat drivers in the harbour before, and some of them are shocking.

SPEAKER_00

Are you talking about Ned Darius? I mean, I wouldn't done that Ned because if I'm ever someone over there, Ned gives me some great tours of the islands. But uh, if you would have thrown him under the bus, that's up to you.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but he he he mustn't have finished that course.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I hope Ned's listening. Well, Nelly'd be listening anyway, so he'll throw you under the bus.

SPEAKER_02

She'd be driving the pills in the tide and room now enough to tell Ned to come and listen quickly.

SPEAKER_00

That'll be it, yeah. That'll be it. He may not if it is though, he'll probably go watch the podcast and then listen to it.

SPEAKER_02

But uh he hasn't I don't have that on my Nokia. Uh so no, go back to Prince William though. He he um he was really good. Uh it was excellent. He met all the staff. We made sure that all the staff had a bit of FaceTime with him. Um, we spoke about these Aston Villa games when he was away because he was he's playing catch-up on sleep basically.

SPEAKER_00

He's he's been gonna say, I was just thinking of it. I thought of the timelines because uh I was just like, has he literally just flown over there from the game?

SPEAKER_02

No, so he flew back from the game and then straight into an event the following morning in Cornwall. So he had a whole day's engagement in Cornwall and then the following day over to the Alsaceilly. Um and or that evening over to Elsa Scilly, then that early morning he he did a bit on Hart FM with um Yeah, that was it.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, I saw him. Yeah, oh god, yeah, so we can get that one out of the way now. Come on in. Uh the uh the scon.

SPEAKER_02

Oh well, you know, can we just put it out there? It's it's cream first. Um I wanted to mention that to him on the boat, and if I'm honest, that I'd uh I'd forgotten about it and all the um all the excitement.

SPEAKER_00

Uh but I I I did see that, and Fran, I think Fran put on a on a message of uh Well, I know it'd already been literally I know it already got on there and sat there and just served me a scone in that uh in that manner. I went, Oh, if you like the Devon way done, that's up to you.

SPEAKER_02

Um but uh but apparently that is the Alsa Silly way as well.

SPEAKER_00

Well, allegedly, yes.

SPEAKER_02

I either way, he he has it that way, and if it's good enough for the future king, it's it's good enough for me. Um and and I think we both agree though it doesn't really matter, but um it isn't a funny uh it was, yeah, I like it.

SPEAKER_00

Um it was a good question, in fact. When it was on there, I did smile that someone kind of pinned him down for an answer. And I think it's his it's obviously grown traction. Uh, because uh you know if he was gonna if he'd gone the other way, I would have made sure that uh uh uh if it supports your argument, you're gonna use uh his opinion uh to support it. So no, it was very good. Uh no, it's a great one.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, well we'll start with the the future head of the commonwealth has it this way. Uh therefore, therefore, all his subjects must have it this way. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_00

You can't really go wrong with that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, cream first with the topping of jam. There we go.

SPEAKER_00

There we go.

SPEAKER_02

Debate settled. Um, but uh no, no, it was an excellent day um with the prince and said um making sure everyone got to see him, all our guys. We've got lots of new guys as well. Uh he we took him back over to Tresco, but this time on the Pegasus, uh, where he went over with Mike and Archie, and they give him a go on that of driving. So completely different. So a jet boat to obviously a conventional propeller or twin prop. Um so he managed to do that as well. Funny enough, he he managed to pick that up quite well.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um so I'd said to him on the way over, I said we're uh we'll sign you up. Uh so we we're leaving here 18 30 for pilotage and uh we'll see you there. But um he didn't show.

SPEAKER_00

No, no, well, it's probably busy. Was he stag? Was he?

SPEAKER_02

Uh he was, and um yeah, we we I think I think they may still he's maybe still be here on holiday and having the rest of the family join them. Um I'm 100% sure. Alright. Um but uh yeah, I think that's it's definitely the highlight of it. It was a nice end to what was and I say this every week, it's a busy week. Last week, yeah. And generally think I know I say it every week, but and and I said it to all the guys on the key. I think last week was probably one of the busiest weeks I've had since I joined the duchy. Um it's genuinely that busy, and it and it it was a build-up from the previous weekend. So the the Sunday I was desperate for a lie in because the um the previous Sunday to that was when we we um we were working on the um it was either with pilotage or we got a call out. But um this Sunday at a I think it was a 5 15 call from the Farmouth Coast Guard to um to go and help a couple of French uh a French couple in Sharks Pit, we had to tow them out. Um and that was not a welcome call, but needed myself and Mike went down to uh to tow the um the yacht out of Sharks Pit and off the sand, um all done and dusted within an an hour, but that's a a Sunday at 5 15 is not not good in any way, is it?

SPEAKER_00

No, yeah, never good. Anyway, more about the prince. Uh that's what the listeners want. Uh, any insights, mate? That's what we need to know. We need to go and just feel free to just lie, uh exaggerate anything, because it's all good content, really.

SPEAKER_02

You know, he's very tall. I as I say we had a we had a couple of meetings with him um on uh Friday. So not only they picked him up, so when he came over for Heartfm in the morning, we had a quick hello with him, and they bring uh they brought his uh or not his or uh Range Rover over. There's obviously a lot of um people in the background blending in blending in with suits on on silly, yeah. Um with with uh you sort of glance past, you go, Oh, he's got a taser on the inside of his jacket there. Yeah, um so lot lots of um PPOs and and a lot of um preamble. We we met a lot of the Kensington Palace team during the week. Um we've met before a lot of the protection officers and and and these guys, I mean to be fair, they do an amazing job. Um, and they they do they're they're very low-key, and people might spot them, but at the same time, they're still low-key, they don't get in the way, they don't interfere. But they're very good and very well trained at spotting something that's not quite about to happen, but uh happened yet, but about to. So they and you know, whether they just stand in front of people or they usher people to the side for a little chat. If you can see they must, you know, they they've been doing it for years, but we had lots of chats with them, but they brought over his Range Rover as well, so that arrived on the islands. Um, and of course that stands out like a sore thumb. So I thought I I thought as well, what so after his Aston Villa um evening European trophy and the party that would have ensued after that, and then the the hot footing it back to Como for the day trip, and he's playing catch-up, and then that evening over to Tresco uh and an early morning start for the for the Hart FM. So he we he landed on St Mary's and we met him on the steps. And uh his car was there at the top of the steps in the harbour, and he said, No, no, it's fine, I'll walk. So, and that's what's nice about Silly, and that's what I love about the Rs of Silly, is he can come here and he can do that, and he's obviously not that.

SPEAKER_00

Go on, sorry. No, you were gonna say sorry.

SPEAKER_02

I was gonna say he's obviously he was obviously wasn't that tired, he was very happy to get up and wander through town uh on foot. So um the car was sort of just left there looking embarrassed. All right, yeah, you're gonna walk over to town then.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, you can never downplay um the security and the hard work that they do, but as as job as jobs goes for those people, coming to Silly's got to be a bit of a a break for some of the places you're gonna go where you've got all sorts of idiots trying to make a stand for something, at least on their whilst they're still doing their job to 100% effort, there must be a bit of a sigh of relief when they've got, oh, we're doing silly tomorrow. Yeah, that's good. There's less likely to be uh uh uh an idiot uh playing up.

SPEAKER_02

I think you're right, and I think it's harder for idiots to get here. No, they're they're obviously stand out, wouldn't they? Yeah, uh yeah, and and um it's like anybody. And and I also say not not just for for you know royalty, but um celebrities in general. There's a lot of um they go they rarely go under the radar, you know. Once they're they're um not doing media bits or PR bits, they you sort of just wander past. I remember uh being at the top of Rackabite slip and going, Oh Christ, there's John Major in a golf buggy. And it was ex-prime minister just driving around in one of the one of the uh the electric golf buggies. It's like that's how um relaxed people can can be.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, uh and we can't forget Nellie's favourite. Nellie's favourite when Jude Law turns up.

SPEAKER_02

Jude Law and helping him. I think she she gave him some extra help to get up onto a horse.

SPEAKER_00

I'm sure she did.

SPEAKER_02

Probably grabbed a buttock or two just to push him on. He signed up straight away for the following year. But um yeah, Jude Law. He he is a regular, I think he's uh he's a big fan of St. Martin's. We we brought him back in we brought him back in Pegasus a few times, um, transferring him from St. Martin's to here. Um an interesting fact, the St. Martin's Hotel opened up once over the winter. He was not auditioning, I think he was he was learning a role for a future film over the course of a winter, and he asked St. Martin's Hotel if he could come and stay for a week and sort of get away um to do that. And and sure enough, they opened up and and that was that was one of the times we took him across and back. Um lovely, he's a lovely guy as well. Um I I'm never ever one for asking people for a selfie, but I couldn't help myself when um Phil Mitchell from East Enders was at the fuel berth. It was me and Tim. Tim Dean worked at down the harbour at the time, but so we um we we we we paped him there. Um he's a regular across as well. Jude Judy Dench. Judy Dench. Yeah, yeah. Um John, um bless him um John when he was down the harbour with us, um his claim to fame was um Kate Winslet um got transferred to the ferry. Um and he he was raging about this for years uh afterwards, and he said uh Alan Alan pulled rank on him when they heard Kate Winslet was there, so he went out to see the ship and to do the checks, and John was already there.

SPEAKER_00

Um more important, well, not more importantly, but uh I've got to know, did you mention to the Prince of Wales the podcast? Because he'd already all I'm saying is before you answer this question, he'd already given it a big up to us at one of the uh Villa um uh after the Villa podcasts, the guys were sat, I was listening to interview later. Yeah, and they were sat below, and it first of all he just kind of not ignored them, but you know, it it was other stuff to do, but like uh but later on after the game, uh while celebrating, he pointed them out and then called them over and said, you know, and they had a little chat, etc. Uh, you know, hopefully you mentioned it to uh uh uh you know the future king, so he'll he'll mention it in passing. And I'll I was just looking for the spike in uh listenership. Uh as soon as you you know he mentioned it or something.

SPEAKER_02

Unfortunately not. And uh you're so professional now, it's sickening how professional the opportunity didn't arise, but I will say this though. So I had to do um uh um an in in the trade they call it a uh a piece to camera. Um I was explaining to them that I was uh a seasoned uh broadcaster um and very happy to do a piece to camera, which I did. I don't think you've seen that footage, have you? No.

SPEAKER_00

Um is that the one what's which one? The the new boat one.

SPEAKER_02

I'm sat on the boat, uh, and there's a few various other shots. Um I'll I'll I'll send you. Is that the one we're doing?

SPEAKER_00

Uh right, it's not the one we do an interview on the about the new boat.

SPEAKER_02

It is, um, but it's it's sort of like a montage, if you like. Yes, um, yeah, yeah, yeah. It is, with me sort of talking over it.

SPEAKER_00

That's right, yeah. Enough said about that. Anyway, uh moving on.

SPEAKER_02

I also had to do uh then during the visit, so when we dropped him off at St. Mary's and the boat was alongside, I stayed on board and had to do uh another uh radio comal uh piece on the Friday lunchtime. No doubt you were listening, uh, but uh at 10 past 12, I was or quarter past twelve, I was on there for about five or ten minutes chatting about the visit and the uh and the new boat.

SPEAKER_00

I saw a lovely bit of Helmson ship, and I knew it wasn't you because I saw you come out of the boat uh as it came alongside on the uh in St. Mary's, and I must admit I was very impressed. I thought it was Mike, I'm not gonna lie to you, a man of his calibre, but uh you mentioned it was Reese, so it was just a beautiful, it's a beautiful approach to the harbour, and literally just stepped off and like it was just seamless. I was like, Oh, I like that.

SPEAKER_02

Uh as you said, uh he absolutely nailed it. So we as we were going around, so we went out from Tresco chatting about the boat, then we gave the boss um a chance to drive, and as we said, you know, he was he was nailing it. But Reese was there chatting to him about the boat, the fuel efficiency and the speed and the comfort ride and the uh the good points, heating and air conditioning, um which were essential. Uh um, and as we come into the harbour, uh and I said, Oh, sir, if you're happy, we'll we'll just leave you to uh to carry on and bring it alongside. And he said, No, no, no, no, please take this off me now. So Reese's like, okay, I'll jump in. And I'd said Therese previously, rather than just faff around by putting lines up, yeah, just pull up to the steps, I'll walk out with a boss. And this is the other thing, which is nice about Silly. So that there's he's the future king. Um, so there's obviously a lot of care and concern about him of what you're doing. And um some people get very twitchy of you know, he's on water, does he need a life jacket? Does he need this? Oh my god, you know, he he he he's a grown man, he's not gonna jump in the sea, uh you know, and and he's able to walk uh um without you know unaided. Uh but I can understand the the the sort of concern about it, but I'd said to them, look, we're gonna get the boss to walk up the side of the boat, we'll come alongside and he'll step off. That's the plan, it's not difficult. And they're like, Okay, that that should be okay. And I and I mentioned it to Reese, and I didn't even give it a second thought of is that any pressure for him? Uh um and as we came into the harbour, you can imagine by this time the the word was already out that he was there, so there was quite a lot of people on the quay. Um, and I'd said to him, I said, Oh, I said I'll walk out ahead of you, um, but we'll get you off. You just step straight off onto the steps and your cars at the top there. Um, and he was very thankful. We had a quick chat at the bow of the boat as well. So you can always imagine you just want them off. Yeah. The boat bounces off. Exactly, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Or just a wave comes along and just moves the boat. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So we had a a little brief chat there. Um, and then Matt got off and then the photographer. There was only um my boss Matt, the prince, and a photographer on the boat. It was it was really nice and relaxed and um intimate, shall I say? Yeah, well, that's exactly.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, it's a lot of people are gonna be very, you know, myself included, very jealous of the the intimacy you do have uh with the uh future king.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I mean, you know, and I took it seriously, you can obviously see that I'd done my hair and I I was I was looking sharp with my hair cut. Um there's always that panic of do you go full tilt uniform or just daily sort of working? Yeah. We kept it casual and and they're pretty relaxed as well, actually.

SPEAKER_00

But we didn't have to start it off, mate. You start it off.

SPEAKER_02

That's the flag flying and an Alzheimer flag flying as well. So yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And maybe next time we'll get a flag with the uh podcast in the background next time. We'll just sneak that one on there next. Well, I think maybe merch-wise, we can get flags.

SPEAKER_02

I've had notification that the the latest batch of um hologram stickers have have been delivered and they haven't, they're not here yet. So because I was waiting, let's say we had seven cruise ships this week. They were gonna get one on the back end of each of them, but um it'll come. It'll come. And I'm sure I'm sure once um his royal highness Prince William starts listening to this um in his downtime, and God knows when that is.

SPEAKER_00

Well, in between jobs, probably. Anyway, podcasts are always good on long transits, aren't they? You can uh catch up in your podcast.

SPEAKER_02

Do you know what? I no what kind of a no one of a lie. I reckon he's busier than me.

SPEAKER_00

Um I tell you what, I bet he doesn't start every podcast saying I've had the busiest week ever. I I I mean, I don't know what how high you can go on that, by the way. I don't you know, I don't want to pull you up for it, but it just gets busier and busier. I'm just like, oh my god. Yeah, I've had to create new hours in the day because it just wasn't enough. I've done it 25 hours.

SPEAKER_02

I I started thinking of one of those uh um you know those is it cryotherapy? I need to get in one of those chambers just to uh just to chill my brain and my body down just because I'm I'm working too many hours now.

SPEAKER_00

Well I suppose I suppose that's enough about the prints. We'll probably put uh come back on Tim later on. Uh uh but no, so what's up? What else? What is what else what else did we say? Golf, yes. But yeah, what how's that been going for you?

SPEAKER_02

I didn't play um on Friday if you can remember. Too busy.

SPEAKER_00

I thought I'd get it in for you.

SPEAKER_02

Too busy meeting the prints.

SPEAKER_00

Um, on Friday, I didn't I didn't have a quick look at my phone. I think I don't know what I was doing on Friday, playing golf, obviously. Uh and uh uh I had a quick look. I thought, oh I need to text so I won't be and I looked, I went, yeah, we'll be fine. He's nowhere near there. He he ain't at home. Uh no. I've seen some of the the imagery out there, so I knew you're gonna be busy um posting.

SPEAKER_02

One of the one of the pictures with the uh prince at the top of the steps, which Fran captured, and and to be I'll give her a do, it was her catch as well. Yes, yes said saying to the princess, uh, what you need is a ping driver, they're totally forgiving.

SPEAKER_00

And that was a very good uh uh that was a quite uh another funny uh from the uh uh Mrs. Clark. I must admit, very that was uh made me giggle when I saw that.

SPEAKER_02

That was a beauty, but um she was delighted. But when I was there, because that was on the when the prince was heading back to Tresco, and I had a nice you know minute or two's chat with him at the top of the steps. And at the time I was explaining to him that the Salonian 3 had raised a um a flag hoist of AVFCs for Aston Villa Football Club. Oh right. Um so I was pointing towards it, and Bran was videoing it next to Ellen and they took an escal down as well. And she said, Janky talking about us. I was what wasn't I was pointing at the flags on the ship, but um brilliant. Never mind, but um yeah, how was your golf then? I I nowhere near golf. How was your golf?

SPEAKER_00

Um so let's just get us uh morphs into one. So last Sunday, uh after the podcast, yeah. So it's uh uh so last week, um I uh one of the guys uh that's right, I didn't play Friday, it was I'm sure it was too windy Friday. Anyway, doesn't matter. Um not this Friday, the week the week before, that's it. Yeah, so get me Fridays together now. Yeah, that's right, yes. Uh so went out on the Sunday, and it it's been showery here, uh, and that's that normally still, wasn't it? Yeah, so the showers were still a little bit uh howly, etc. And uh um whatever. Anyway, so whatever there. Um golf was going mediocre, pretty okay to mediocre, in fact. Uh nothing too uh disastrous, and then I could have might have been out of Jacksonville again. I heard the thunder and lightning, I was like, you're joking. And uh I was just like and then I was just like oh and and and I I it was starting, it was the back nine, it was all starting to slowly come back together. And I looked and we'd missed a few of the showers, and then this one came down and it was white out conditioned. This it was like I don't know, P size, but probably bigger than P size, bits of hell coming down. The golf course was the golf course was white, and I kind of just sat there and went, Well, ignoring the fact that lightning and golf doesn't get on and went well. Well, the other two were sat there undercover, and uh I just striped one literally down the middle of the fairway, and just like, yes, come on, you know. Um, and it's and then literally as I done it, I turned around and said, Leaf, this uh everyone's been called in. I was like, I was like, how much do I like that golf ball? So they went the shortcut way back in, and I kind of had to go the long way. Luckily, I've got an umbrella, I was pretty prepared. And then yeah, that's why I sent that footage of the uh uh the house drones, and then I I because I obviously thought uh uh this is uh I'm in the master or something. I picked up my ball and it marked it, uh put a T behind it. So just in case we we were gonna get called back onto the onto the course or something. I've sat there having a coffee in the bar and just looked at the green outside and it was like swamped. I was like, there's no way this is ever, you know, golf's not playing here again for the next couple of days. So uh yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So it was completely cancelled, you didn't get back on then.

SPEAKER_00

No, I didn't get back on that. So that was last Sunday. Yeah, I lost the T then. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I didn't lose a ball. Uh a couple of games during the week, which I think um uh yeah, and then uh so I competition wise, I'm normally go for Stableford because I like the fact that you can just you know struggle off your hole uh if you blob or whatever and move on to the next one. But I've kind of I was like, you know what? Golf membership, all these medals, etc. I've I'll enter one of them, I'll enter a stroke play, uh, which is kind of the way that you like to play golf. So it's probably why you don't mind because you're used to counting all of your strokes in total. Uh for me, I'm I'm normally a stable foot, I find it very easy on my brain. Yeah, whatever, yes. Uh uh, so I thought, oh, you know, one of the guys rang me and said, Oh, I was just supposed to come up, uh uh Briggs uh dropped out. If you want to come in, jump in. I said, okay. And then I've had a golf, this is Saturday, so I had a golf lesson Saturday morning. And uh John goes, Well, you know, what we're looking at, Lee. I said, Well, I said, to be honest, the driver is killing me. I said, you know, fundamentals there. I said, I just need to just get back to that. I said, and you know, just the the the slice is back, and in fact, there's a bit of a two-way miss as well. You know, okay, so we sat there and we worked on a few things, and uh, I mean he's he's a very good coach, extremely good coach, because he knew I was put in the competition later on, so he's like, We're not gonna swamp with too much stuff there, couple of swing faults, nothing special, just set up your position and just uh work on this. And I was like, Okay, cool, yeah, yeah, yeah. So went home for lunch, came back, um, and I I just sat there uh haven't had a driving lesson earlier on that day. First of all, where'd you think it went?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, straight down the fairway, mate. Never mind.

SPEAKER_00

No, did it did it help? Slide straight out of bounds. I thought, oh my god, this has not gone well. And I was already nervous. I mean, don't get me wrong, don't ask me why. I you know, it's a competition you might as well in my mind, I might as well be the bloody masters or something. You sat there giving it, oh god, and then the second shot skied it right up in the air as uh come down with snow onto the other fairway. It was just like, yeah, but only 100 yards in front of me. I was just like, Great, this is gonna be great. So I I think I walked off the first, uh, having shot nine on a par four. I went, Oh my god. Uh, yeah, eight or nine. And then yeah, second one skied it up into the uh skyred it up there as I was like, Oh god, this is not going well.

SPEAKER_02

Sorry, the the words you mentioned a minute ago was he's a really good coach.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, but he can't coach my frickin' head.

SPEAKER_02

Um honestly you sit there and then I mean was this was this a qualifying event into the PGA too?

SPEAKER_00

Do you know what? In my mind it might as well have been, mate. Honestly, I God knows what it was. I just I think I just you know you and when you've got something in your mind because you're like, oh, I don't want to lose balls because I'm gonna get all the shots, etc. blah blah, you just you end up creating you know a scenario which is totally unrealistic. Um and uh yeah, so uh um and then well you've driven past the golf course, so you know that hole that's literally you drive past, and the that you're driving past as people are tearing off, yeah. As you can imagine, uh in my mind, that is like the scariest hole in the world.

SPEAKER_02

And I do not stopped and looking at you.

SPEAKER_00

Well, no, because I do not I do not even think about swimming a club until that road is empty because there is danger. Anyway, so uh I kind of we got past that, and then one of the chaps I was playing with it is it was a far better golfer than me. And it just what I love about golf is it doesn't matter how bad you are, there's nothing that you have done that someone else hasn't done already. And uh he probably could no no no he he probably shot 13 or so uh on that hole and just NR'd. So basically just went well balls lost us there, and uh which meant he could he wasn't going to be returning a score, uh which again is you know you know, my mind it's about loads of people NR. It's not the end of the world, in fact, an NR. And you know, if you lose your ball and you can't you're not going back for it, then hey, you know, it's not the end of the world. So it was good to kind of like break uh break my cherry on that and get it out of the way and just realise, you know, and laugh at myself, rightly so. Uh so I can just go just stop worrying about this lead, uh, and then maybe put on to the bits that I've been uh had my uh lessons on and put those into practice and relax a little bit.

SPEAKER_02

And uh at the end of the round, then what how how did you uh how did you well it wasn't last?

SPEAKER_00

So you know there was people worse than you. Do you know what? Genuinely there was people worse than me as exactly. I was I was uh 99th out of 103. Excellent.

SPEAKER_02

Uh so not like you didn't feel the urge to go, where are those losers that came last?

SPEAKER_00

And there was a good eight or ten people because the wind picked up yesterday. Uh yeah uh then hard. So do you know what and you had obviously kind of you know they were scoring too high, they were too scared to put their uh or embarrassed to put their scoring. So um I was uh I I took solace in the fact that you know what I can play that I put the card in and uh it won't be counting towards my handicap. I think um that one would be seriously ignored by the app, but uh yeah, so uh a uh a learning experience there.

SPEAKER_02

So so the the victory speech stayed inside the inside of the pocket.

SPEAKER_00

And good news is that the uh the obviously I need a new driver um because it wasn't working. Uh this one's broken. I in fact, John, I've got not next week, the week after I've got my fit in for the driver. So uh so I said to John as I walked in, I said, I'll feel free to remember all this uh for the fit-in. I didn't know it's an hour and a half fitting, he does. Uh it's a fair whole yeah, yeah, because you go through all the all the clubs, etc. etc. etc. There's a full-on uh session.

SPEAKER_02

One club as a driver.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, well, there's he's got quite a few. No, he goes for all of the different um models he's got and weights of uh shaft, etc., and all that kind of stuff.

SPEAKER_02

And you're putting me off this now. I want to I just want to walk in and go, can I have a practice of that? That feels good, right? We'll have it. Uh you don't do.

SPEAKER_00

If you're paying that kind of money, you want to make sure that he ensures that your swing he uh uh is going to align that to exactly that.

SPEAKER_01

So I want to say to mate, I'm not gonna win the fucking the PGA or the well if you don't want to fit in, if you don't want to fit in, just go online.

SPEAKER_00

American Golf, we're not sponsored by them, other uh uh other golf companies are out there, and just go, well, I'll just take a standard fit uh standard lie, standard length, please. Then if you know if you're up here at that, then crack on.

SPEAKER_02

Is is the fitting not more for the um the they call it the fine margins, you know, the the the fine tweaks. And if we're well for somebody like me whose handicap went up bizarrely, up back up to 31 points something, is there any point of me having uh you know a fitting for a club which you know as you say, it's not gonna get me to win the masters, is it?

SPEAKER_00

It's not, but you I mean, I get what you're saying, I don't you know, but there will be part there will be good parts of your swing that this will be able to uh emphasise. If you I mean the the the probably the only the worst thing you ever want is the two-way miss. If you're doing if it's not a constant uh miss in one direction, it's very challenging to work out what's caused it. But if you know, I I don't know what your bad shot is, but if you if you've got a big slice and the rest of them will go down the middle and you just try and avoid that, then you could just get a draw bias, um uh club blah blah, and you would make sure the weight's in the right direction. Um, and if you're just miss hitting it on the heel and the uh um toe, there's the clubs that have got certain uh benefits of that, you know, you're you know, a man of your height, strength, you can still pipe the ball. You don't need assistance getting it uh forward. Uh you just want to stop bad shots. So, you know, that's there's a there's a the selection that's out there, you know, with clubs, that's what you're paying someone to give you is saying, right, I want the most forgiving club to uh you know, which hey, go figure it's probably gonna be the ping.

SPEAKER_02

Well, yeah, when I when I hit the ball, and and you know, not all the time, but when it the majority of the time it'll go straight and and and down the middle, and then every now and again there's just this slice or it just it disappears off to the right, and you think, oh, but I've no idea what I did wrong, or you know, yeah, cool. That's that's what I don't have that knowledge of if uh I've done this to make it do that. Yeah, because when I when it hit a belter, you go, Oh, right, how did it do that?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, exactly. So we'll have to look at that, and and in fairness, I'm hoping after an hour and a half is gonna be uh it also I'll be getting some uh uh uh tips on uh uh uh after an hour and a half sales pitch, you'll be coming back with a full set of irons as well and a lamp butter. Yeah, me uh anyway. So uh yeah, so it was quite funny, it was amusing. I can't I can't allow you.

SPEAKER_02

Uh well, fair play. Gotta put yourself out there. And uh yeah. I I I'm I'm a way, way well, way, way, way, way off uh any sort of competition golf, but um hopefully I get back into um I've got a week off this week, so I'm hoping I said to Fran, her face dropped when I said it. I said, Oh, get up every day on the course this week. That that look of you haven't seen your job list, have you?

SPEAKER_00

Just mate, just get up before she does. That's the simplest way.

SPEAKER_02

That that's not hard, so I yeah, I I'll um I I'll uh I think I had already said that I'll I'll get out in the morning and go and do the um nine holes each morning. That that'd be quite a nice way to start the day. Well, I say that, or quite a nice way to ruin the day and then just come back spuming. I need everything, but um yeah, we'll we'll give it a go. I um I saw a picture to you today, um, and it looked like you were out fishing. Although I say that you you were stood by your phone, so I wasn't quite sure if that was a fishing expert or whether it was. There was this photograph of you stood next to something that said dangerously unstable.

SPEAKER_00

So uh I um yeah, so I'm kind of hitting mid my midlife crisis hard at the moment. Uh, and uh we've taken to uh uh gardens and and walking around gardens, it's come back into it.

SPEAKER_02

And uh is that a midlife crisis? I mean, normally people go and start getting face tattoos and motorbikes as a midlife crisis. You've you've gone to a garden center. Well, I've no end of life crisis.

SPEAKER_00

Well no, you kind of get there, it's a very middle class kind of thing, isn't it? You sit there in the garden center. We we we I I sat there yesterday in the in the uh uh in the morning having breakfast with me, um, bird app, listening to birds, doing some bird recce. Um I I like rhododendrons now, so we went to this garden that's opened once a year, so we can look at that. I'm just kind of like it's you're just hitting that kind of time. You're slowing the pace. I mean, don't get me wrong, you're right. Mate, you know, I'm saying midlife triceps, maybe I'm just about to die. I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Uh you'll be able to slow the pace, and in that garden centre, say, like I have it on high recommendation that it's cream first on this instead of having.

SPEAKER_00

Um so yeah, so uh we that photo was us that uh in one of the garden uh was a there's a an estate down there that opens once uh uh a year, um, and it opens the gardens up for on charity days, etc. So uh that was very nice, yeah. So that was just me uh viewing the um uh garden.

SPEAKER_02

Are you taking photographs to improve your your own herb garden that you've started?

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah, oh yeah, sorry. But yeah, that yeah, very nice. Uh well we have you seen as the AI morphed onto you, um the the little indoor herb growing uh the one where the light raises as the as it grows.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, something advertised.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, it's just coming through Nash. I just I'm starting to give it, yeah, okay, right. Um yeah, it it's all it's all encompassed, that kind of stuff.

SPEAKER_02

They uh we just basically are you growing then?

SPEAKER_00

None, there was just an idea we had.

SPEAKER_02

I thought you had this uh full-on hair garden on the on the on the go.

SPEAKER_00

I mean we have got them. I mean, I don't remember when I say I'm into gardening. There's my wife's probably currently outside mowing the lawn for all I know. Um, or or or if I like, as she does on regular occurrences when I'm just out playing golf, redesigns the whole of the garden, which she did yesterday. Um moved all of the furniture. I started panicking. Um, but uh no, that was just an idea. Well, I just I wrote it down as notes. I wasn't sure if you'd seen those devices and uh their use. I am I have got spots growing now, in fairness. Um they're coming on good, mate. I'm not gonna lie to you, they're coming on beautifully. Uh needed I'm having to Google them a little bit more. I think I need to put some more dirt on them and stack them up on the sides.

SPEAKER_02

Do you know what I did here? Um probably more for your location way up in the highlands, is um so we've got these pontoon blocks. You you you have stood on them before in the hardware, yeah. Black plastic pontoon blocks. No, the broken ones um they're used for various things. People use them to chalk up their boats or some people cut the tops. We've used them for concrete, poured concrete in them as sinkers and stuff as well. But some people fill them up with um compost and soil and strawberries or even potatoes. And because it's it retains the heat that that so I'm just thinking as you're growing potatoes, you want to make sure you've got some either some black um plastic or polythene inside your potato um bed, if you like. Or um yeah, or try some of that. I just uh the heat in the ground helps them grow um that much better.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I have had them I have uh had them covered for about a cut uh last week uh with a cold, um, but it's been pretty much um glorious here uh past week. So uh we've taken the top off.

SPEAKER_02

I've um and I took a top off. What?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, the top off of them.

SPEAKER_02

Umly fans again, is it?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, exactly. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um I um you're talking about the gardener. I've I've now done the second cut on the uh so last week uh was the first cut at quite a high setting as uh instructed on uh by the tinterweb. This week I've done another cut so across one way at a certain height and then across the other way um at a lower height. So it is looking spectacular, mate. It's the again the greenest green you've ever seen. Um watered every day again, watered again today, but the sprinkler's been in action all week. Um we've uh I've also now pulled the um the big table, the wooden table that we had at Launch and Close. Yeah, that that's now on the on the patio. That's been built today. I'll put a post on Instagram, you've probably seen it. Um but that's up. Grass is cut. Um pressure washer was out, pastel slabs are all washed and done today. So I've been the most active one in the garden, but Fran built a few a few new chairs that we've got um out the back, the the rattan type that have um appeared. Um and I did send you a message, or did I put it in the uh the chat about um so the barbecue, the Weber that we've got, the um the charcoal one. I mean we've had that for years now, and it's done that's seen some action, that bit of kit. That's seen some some good meals. And uh I brought it out from the back of the garage and it I took the lid off, it's all rusted inside. I thought that'll be alright, I'll just I'll get a fire going and get it up to heat and scrub it and rub it all down, that'll be fine. And I noticed that the the grill that the the the inside of it was sort of like an angle, and I thought, is it it's sat up alright? And I leant on it at one side, it's that rusted that it sort of bent itself back into shape. I was like, no, this is this is gonna collapse and so I'm on the lookout for a new barbecue. And I thought, you know, given your uh experience in reviews, uh Lee reviews things, um, is that we'll need a barbecue review. Well I think and I think that's where you've got extensive knowledge.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, yeah, yeah. Well come into my office, right? Um I I what do we what did it what does it need to do? And don't just say barbecue. What are you thinking? What are the kind of meal, what what meals you want to uh uh um steaks, meat.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think um uh I I I prefer uh a charcoal um to a gas heat. But then I had one that used to do both. I used to light the charcoals with the gas and then switch it off. Um uh yeah, I I that Weber has been excellent, I have to say.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I'm surprised because they they are designed. I mean, what my I've you know, I've never got well whilst I've got other barbecues, I've kept that one. It's still You know, the cover's been on it, it's still out there, it's not in a great nick. Um, but um I mean I use it probably use it as a uh outdoor um fire pit now.

SPEAKER_02

Um but it's wrong, there's still life left in this one, I think, but um it was at the good point when it was looking particularly shabby, and Fran looked at it and went, Oh god, we need a new one. I was like, Yes, we do.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so I mean, I would get well. I was down when we dropped off Anna uh Anna's um final tick-off uh on Friday. We were down in Dobbo's Dobbins, I think it's called just a uh garden centre up here. Don't think they have them in England. Um and I had a uh big garden uh piece in there, and then they've had all the selection there. Obviously, um uh the ones is quite a big fad on the uh uh plates there and uh uh which are okay, but you you've not been no no the um the uh oh the griddles oh the grids. Yeah, griddles, I think. Yeah, uh which are okay, but um I've forgotten name and bronze. But I would I mean you know I'm where I'm gonna go is I I would go ceramic, um Commodore Joe, Green Egg, or uh I'd noticed, and it'd be worth another look online. Liddles and oldie have just I've just uh I know certainly the middle aisle here had their oldies uh sale, and there's there's always good reviews on those. The accessories are a bit more troublesome to get hold of for them, but there are available, so I would go ceramic because it would cover both your traditional steaks, etc., and allow you to then move into smoking ribs and that kind of stuff as well, where you need that um heat.

SPEAKER_02

Um uh Alan mentioned straight away when I mentioned it at lunch, he's like, uh, get one of the green eggs, get one of those.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Well, I mean, that I mean the you know, brand is it's a brand name, the green egg, and the the Camado, so uh they're they're much the same. Uh but the they're copies of them, um, because remember they're made famous because of the brand name, but they're the ceramic um barbecues, so you you'll see the same um stuff um uh for a lot cheaper.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I'll I'll have a look. I've got a week, as I say, I've got a week off now to start doing some investigations into it. But um, we're gonna have a barbecue tonight. Um, we're gonna have some steaks, which will be lovely. Um, and then start work at uh five minutes. No Sunday roast? No? No, uh no Sunday roast this and I'm glad actually because it's an absolute belter of a day, um, which I can confirm through my um lobster red skin now. I I briefly got caught in the sun for 30 seconds and a flash flash fry um straight away. Putting that bloody table up. I've got sunburn all over my arms and my legs, but um no, it is glorious, so we're gonna sit out the back and uh have some steak and some chips and a glass or two of wine. And I I again, you know, you'll appreciate I was I was so tired last week that um I oh did I tell you my wine order arrived.

SPEAKER_00

Oh right.

SPEAKER_02

Maybe that was the podcast That's what I should have I should have started, I should have led with that. There's been so much to unpack pack for this week. It's oh um so I was that tired I forgot that that arrived. So I've got that to sample and go through over the course of the week. Um being off some really nice wines in there by the look of it. Um so I'll have a go at one of them tonight with a with a nice.

SPEAKER_00

Did you choose your choose your own or did you uh uh I I did.

SPEAKER_02

Um and they they are sending me um some free bottles given the delay and the time that it's taken to get here. I think um 15-16 days ago I got a notice that said your wine order has been delivered to the week and said uh it hasn't.

SPEAKER_03

Excuse me, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

It hasn't been delivered, I can confirm. Um and I said this is the second time it happened, and the last time it was the Christmas um delivery one which I missed out, and it arrived in the new year. So I I I cancelled my subscription and discussed. Um and then I've gone back to them and first order in, same thing happened. So they they've been very good in sending me some some other other bottles to uh to make up for the loss. But they haven't arrived yet either. No, I phoned them up and say those complimentary bottles that you sent for the ones going missing have gone missing.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, no, we're uh I think I mentioned my after I chat, Marman came through no snag um uh with pizzas tonight. So um very nice.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, very nice. We we had pizzas last night, um oh sorry, Friday night, because Ellen it's all been changed around. Harry's gone to the mainland with cadets this weekend on a shooting competition.

SPEAKER_00

Nice.

SPEAKER_02

Um Ellen arrived uh on Friday on the boat and um said that she wanted to have pizzas. Now because I was so busy um on Friday with um a certain Prince William that um I didn't get home in time to to flash up the the uni um pizza oven. So I got home and I opened the door and I could smell pizzas. I was like, oh Franz, how's she doing? She's she started and done it on her own, but she made the homemade pizzas in the oven, and I was I was out I was outraged. Um but they were really nice, they were absolutely amazing, and then we were like, huh, what's going on? How is this how is this so different? But no, it was lovely, really, really nice. So and then I'm gonna say today, no Sunday roast, um, and a nice change because we had a Sunday roast last last Sunday with um so I've just started.

SPEAKER_00

So we've gone down to oven peaches and no sundae roast. Things are going down here now, mate. Jesus Christ, you are busy.

SPEAKER_02

I was gonna say, we're too busy. And you know, and all this busy.

SPEAKER_00

What's Friend doing in between this?

SPEAKER_02

I was that busy last Sunday. Um, she mentioned something. I mean, I was probably doing the housework. Uh as she went out the door, uh, she was going to nip down to the co-op to grab something. Now the co-op shuts at four o'clock on a Sunday here on the island. I'm not sure if it's the same on the mainland, but um, so I looked at my watch and it was like half four, and I was like, Where's France? She's just nipping down. So I couldn't get hold of her, and you know the find my friends thing. Yeah, the last update was in the co-op at whatever time it was. I was like, all right, so I kept ringing, kept ringing, tried WhatsApp ringing, tried Messenger ringing, all of the above and and messages. Then I thought, oh, she's probably gone up to Jules's. So phone Jules. No, she's not there, and then maybe she's gone to London Farm and see Nelly and Ned. Phone Nelly, no, they're not there. And I then but this time I'm panicking. So I grabbed the dog, I was like, get in the car, and I went to town. Town completely empty. So only time you can drive through town is on a Sunday afternoon because there's nobody there. I was like, shit, where is she? Then I thought, there's obviously there's been a medical emergency, she's got involved and she's gone up to the hospital or the the the um health center, that's where it'll be. And she probably dropped her phone in the freezer aisle that bloody um so went up there, she wasn't there either, but this time I'm really starting to panic now, like shit, where is she? Um, and then she sort of whistles through the door 20 minutes later, hi! It's like, where have you been? My god, I told you I've been off for a massage. I was like, Oh, for fuck's sake. Sabai, sabai tie massage. I was like, and all all the hassle of me being busy, I had forgotten that she had a booked massage, so I was freaking out thinking she was lost, lost on the island, she's vanished. Full scale search about to start, and uh she's yeah, she's there having a lovely massage, um, and well-deserved massage as well.

SPEAKER_00

Well done you, well done you. That makes me fun, that makes me laugh. Um, what else we got on the uh agenda?

SPEAKER_02

Uh on a my stitches out um again, another my other injuries. Um my stitches are out on my back and um the dissolvable ones on my face, they weren't really dissolving, so Fran had to cut them off with a um some sort of scalp-y thing. Um it's always worrying. People with sharp instruments so close to your eyes and your face, you have you they have your complete attention when they do that. Um and then she took the ones out of my back. Um and that's been healing up quite nicely. Although it I I don't know if it's just every time I stretch a certain way, it sort of cuts it open again. Just frustrating. But um no other new injuries yet this week. So um that's that's it's a rarity.

SPEAKER_00

It is. Yeah, oh uh Anna got the mention, Anna got the all clear.

SPEAKER_02

Um she's back to work.

SPEAKER_00

Uh she's back to work Monday, yeah. So uh last day of uh freedom. Yeah, she's working. Uh it's not a bank holiday here uh for her on Monday. It is for me.

SPEAKER_02

Oh well she'll be gutted that she's attended uh Dr. Lee's medical school.

SPEAKER_00

Well, in fairness, the doctors turned around to her and said she'd seen that uh uh she's recovering that. Well, she's she's she's better than people she'd the doctor had seen who were 12 months in recovery. Uh she was that good. And and you know, she wanted to know uh how she recovered so well, and she just said, Well, it's my husband. Uh his uh a strict regime that he runs in the household. And uh what can I say?

SPEAKER_02

She's uh all heal you, Dr. Lee.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, she's out cycling now as we speak. Uh so she might, yeah. In fact, I'm just checking and find my friends to make sure she has another accident somewhere. Um she's on her way back now, that's good. Uh she'll be coming back hungry, so I better get this pizza. I better get the pizza rubber flashed up in a minute. But yes.

SPEAKER_02

And you're now part of a medical case study on hip.

SPEAKER_00

I should be really, I'm not gonna lie to you, I should be.

SPEAKER_02

Um I think there's a business opportunity for you there. If you're gonna start um um having um disabled access into your house so that you can uh get these wheelchair, or you can say to them, you won't need that in here, son. Leave that at the door. Well, welcome to the healing home.

SPEAKER_03

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

What have you got on for the week ahead?

SPEAKER_00

Other than cooking pizzas tonight, uh week ahead, so I I don't look for that far ahead, mate. Uh some work uh stuff. Um I'm looking at my diary now. Uh Anna's uh Anna's off to Amsterdam next week. Oh Fraser's there at the moment. Yeah, isn't he? Yeah, lucky bugger.

SPEAKER_02

We had a FaceTime with Jim and Anders and Fraser the other morning. They all looked absolutely hungover to hell. Yeah, good. And uh no, it's amazing though. You've got a crack in place right in the pretty much right in the centre of the city. And um, and I tell you what threw me. Uh was Jim explaining to me about uh they don't have brakes on handlebars as they normally do, um, but the brakes are on the wheels, uh, so you pedal backwards to start slowly.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, some of those ones, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I can understand how Anna had a um a fall last time, and then we actually started talking. Was that the start of our hip problem? The fall in Amsterdam or I remember that, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um caught on video, she was over the mood on that. Uh yeah, she was she wasn't the best press.

SPEAKER_02

I would have I would have caught I would have caught you, dear, but I was filming it and it was too much too much.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, uh yeah, so she leaves in the week. So um I've got uh a scramble golf uh competition on scramble on uh Sunday, everyone's favourite format that one's just whack it. Um so when she leaves, and then I've got to fend myself for a couple of days, so you know hashtag pray for Lee.

SPEAKER_02

Uh she's doing some some pre-cooked meals for you.

SPEAKER_00

I hope so. I bloody hope so. How about you? What are you gonna this week?

SPEAKER_02

Uh so I hopefully we'll put the golf day.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, right. Yeah, yeah. So just golf, golf, golf, golf. I got some barbecues.

SPEAKER_02

Researching barbecues and listening to your recommendations. Uh, got some host bits to do, some little odds and sob jobs that I've just been too busy to do in the past. And um uh walking the dog. I'm tempted at the moment to go for a swim in the sea at some point, so I might try that this week.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, Anis, uh, I think she's off tomorrow after at lunchtime. So yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Oh man, that is hardcore up there. That is in the sea up there. That's bloody it's almost ice there.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I know, yeah. She'll be uh she'll be dragging you in when you guys come up at Christmas.

SPEAKER_02

I did um I did see bone. Um I did see um uh Vic uh on the quay on Friday. Oh he is um he's he's not training at the moment, um, but he's off camping. He's over I think he's on St. Agnes this week or this weekend.

SPEAKER_00

Of course, you still listen to the podcast?

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah, yeah, absolutely. Because I said to him, I said, Oh, you're not doing training? We'll get another one out on Sunday. And he said, No, no training at the moment. He's off, he's doing a bit of gonna do a bit of fishing, a bit of boating, and uh chill out and relax. So uh I said, Yeah, well we'll have another one out Sunday night. So he'll be over there. He's not a fat, he didn't look particularly thrilled to be going camping. And uh I I said, I'm with you, mate. I said hotels all the way, but they did have like um they brought the entire house down to the quay, I reckon. So every eventuality. Um, but yeah, it wasn't just a bivywhack and uh and a roll of toilet paper. No, it was a bit more than that.

SPEAKER_00

Ah cool. Well, uh have a great week, mate. Um yeah, I take I hope the weather stays uh as good as it is at the moment for you, and that heat wave keeps on because uh that's gonna go pants midweek for the look of it.

SPEAKER_02

So I'll make the most of it now. I'll get my sunburn all over by tomorrow and then um cool down from the midweek onwards.

SPEAKER_00

Brilliant. Well, have a good night, and I'll uh I'll probably be able to start uh for listeners that are listening. This is we're doing this on a Sunday due to Dow being so busy. Uh hopefully golf tournament, isn't it? Uh oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Yesterday, yeah. Uh so uh we'll try, we'll look up Friday, Saturday again, see what's see what the uh uh program's looking like um and uh go from there.

SPEAKER_02

Excellent. Nice one.

SPEAKER_00

Have a good week. Anyway, take care.

SPEAKER_01

Cheers, bye. Cheers.
