Lee and Dale catch up this week after a weekend of "gatherings". The World Pilot Gig Champs have finished and the Army v Navy rugby result saw Lee celebrate in a famous(ish) pub. Dale continues his good work with the lawn care as Lee improves his golf game whilst juggling his role as chief nurse for Anna. Harry is taken to the mainland to hospital after a tree fall and Fran gets to shop on the mainland. Lots to soak up this week as the 2 brothers-in-law catch up on Highlands 2 Islands.
Welcome to Highlands to the Islands. I'm Lee, chatting to you from the Highlands.
SPEAKER_00And I'm Dale living life here on the Isles of Silly.
SPEAKER_03Each week we'll swap stories from the Highlands to the Islands, local news, DOI disasters, barbecue bragging, goal frustrations, and all weird and wonderful stuff that fills our weeks.
SPEAKER_00Basically, it's two brothers in laws having a laugh, trying to one up each other, and bringing you along for the ride.
SPEAKER_03So, grab a cupper or a pint, and let's jump into today's episode. Dell, what's been happening on the docks this week?
SPEAKER_00Well, what hasn't been happening on the docks this week? I think we've had one of the busiest weeks that I can remember in a long, long time. Not least because it's been gig weekend, but the whole build-up and prep to it has been uh well sapping my energy all the way through. And I'm absolutely shattered now, but delighted that the gig racing is all finished. And um yeah, we we've had a hell of a week down the quay, but uh busy trying to get everybody to the islands, as you can imagine. Traveling as you as you know, it's not that easy getting here, is it? Um so so uh busy um with the the Salonian ferry, ferrying literally ferrying people to or from Penzance to here, and um weather got in the way this week and during one of the trips uh midweek, uh the ferry for one of the handful of times I can remember, and all the time I've been here, having to stay over at St. Mary's on um Wednesday night, which mean meant that the Thursday double sailing, which was two full boats coming from Penzance that day, they had to cancel one of them. Uh, and and there's a delay, which threw everybody, you know, everyone's hands threw up in the air, going, Oh my god, how's the championship going to work? Uh so a bit of panic phone calls and lots of um scrabbling round trying to reschedule racing and stuff. But as seems to happen all the time on the Isles of Scilly, um, at the 11th hour, it all came together, everybody got here, all the gigs got here, the racing started, and it's been an absolutely spectacular weekend of um of racing, of people catching up, socializing. Um, yeah, uh just a hectic, ridiculously busy week down the harbour. Um, people, boats, freight, um, yeah, I I don't know where to begin with it all, really. But um it's been a bit a bit of a whirlwind. Um I'm sure we'll cover it all. It's happened. Um, but yeah, Salonian staying over on St. Mary's, which is unusual. Uh you had some guests, yeah.
SPEAKER_01You were uh hosting a few people.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so it ended up with with this the ferry not going back to Penzance and lots of people stuck this end. I think they were due to take about 93 people back. Um that prompted the community coming together uh and and finding places for people to stay. We ended up doing a trip up to St. Martin's. They said, Can you take six people up to St. Martin's? This was at the end of the day on Wednesday, and it was horrible weather. And we said, Yep, we'll take six people up. So I'd literally got home, turned around, went back in the truck, back down to the harbour. We uh flashed up Pegasus. It was me and Joe uh heading up there, came alongside. Six people stood there with five dogs. Uh and and luggage. I was like, Christ, I was glad I didn't take the pup down with us uh to do the trip. And but anyway, we managed to squeeze everybody in and the dogs who none of them had been on boats or were that keen on boats, but um took them up to St. Martin's Higher Town and it was horrible. And I think probably the one of the worst trips up to Higatown St. Martin's I've ever done with an easterly wind as well. It's just awful.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um bit of a white knuckle ride for our passengers, but we were laughing it off and and making light of it, saying, you know, this is this is what it's like all the time up St. Martin's. But um managed to drop them off and and thought that's it, you know, just let's get home, let's go and relax, sit down, have a have a beer, have a glass of wine or whatever. I hope in the door to be met by uh a couple who I've never seen in my life, but with Fran Fran shouting over the top, we've got some guests. So we we had a couple for the night and their dog as well, actually. Um, which uh uh Iska was delighted that we had a a uh nearly two-year-old uh golden retriever here as well as as her mate for the night. And uh the pair of them were playing. Well, Iska was thought it was like an assault course um everywhere, but um, they had a grand time. We had a lovely couple here actually. Um they still they spent the night with us here, and um they got off on the ferry the following morning. So yeah, a bit of a bit of a week.
SPEAKER_01Um did you mention the podcast to them? Did they leave with a sticker? I did a couple of stickers and their luggage, they left.
SPEAKER_00I do know what and and I think I think they said they were from Surrey, and I I I didn't mention the podcast actually. Ian and Jan, uh the couple. Um so if you are listening to this at l at at later time, uh exist, do they? Well, they will do because we as you do, you exchange uh details and mobile numbers. So um I think when we uh when we are in touch with them again, and they're regular visitors to the islands, so we'll um we'll definitely be um asking them to spread the word uh on the uh east east side of the UK there that um we're we're online and and talking about all thing highlands and islands. So but they're no, they're they're really genuinely lovely, lovely couple, actually. Um even if they'd to stay a few nights, they would have been fantastic guests. They're really, really nice. So yeah, they were they were so nice. And the and the dog as well, um Isla. So we had Isla and Iska running around after each other, um having a wheel of a time. So yeah, yeah, it was um it's not and do you know what? We went back into work the following day, and and it's that nice feeling, you know, you've done you've done a good deal. Yeah, and and it is all about that. And and part of gig weekend, I know it's lots of historical historical generations of uh friends and and family members catching up again. Um uh it's all about that. The community comes together and has a really nice time. Um, lots of other people took you know, families in as well. Um, so yeah, that was just a really nice feel to that. Um, but yeah, must do better on mentioning the podcast, definitely. I can't believe I forgot that. I'm kind of gutted now.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03I mean, uh you're gonna tell me now that they're in the PR industry and literally this a massive opportunity.
SPEAKER_00Oh no, they're not, but uh the retired couple, but um really you know, interesting couple. Um, and Ian and and and Jan, both you know, such lovely house guests, we'd have them any time. So they've booked in for next year. We're setting up our own B and B. Nice Air B and B. Yeah, yeah, dog friendly, and uh yeah.
SPEAKER_03They probably saw the patch out and thought, Oh, yeah, we need we need a piece of that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, exactly. That we said to them next, next next year we should have a hot tub for you to sit in and relax.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, excellent. Oh, cool. Yeah, I was I was catching uh I was aware of some of the uh the bits and bobs that are happening on there, so uh yeah, yeah, we were basking in too much sun up here, unfortunately.
SPEAKER_00Um well bizarrely, uh after Wednesday the the the weather broke and we had amazing weather. Again, me taking care as a day walker to be uh not to be too sunburnt, but having you know, you can imagine work gets pushed to the side. It's all about making sure everybody's looked after, the the public members, people of the public are safe down on the quay and in the harbour, and we open up the uh the quay on the Sunday, the Saturday afternoon and and all day Sunday for them to use and come and watch the gig race. And so it's it's a bit of a stressful time, and and not least because they opened the bar upstairs.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, how did that go?
SPEAKER_00So day one, we we came in the following day on the Thursday morning. Oh man, it was a mess. It was just uh good. It was and and there was a bit of well, let's call it tea than problems. So the the people operating the bar were very apologetic, and but we had to clean it up because um on the uh Friday morning, because they they were open the Thursday night, the Friday morning with the first of two double sailings, so um yeah, so we cleaned that up, but but to be fair, they they the the following mornings, um Saturday morning and this morning um Sunday is Sunday today, isn't it?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um they were on it and the key was nice and clean and no trouble as such. But and I say there's another but um because there's a bar upstairs, we're locking the waiting room and the the public toilets because in the past where we've had late licenses down on the quay, there's been some idiots who ruin it for everyone and and start trashing the place. So we we locked it up so from the Thursday night, but so that prompted um phone calls basically uh of my luggage is in the waiting room and and I need it and I need it. And is that okay? So Thursday did that, that was fine, and then Friday night I thought I'd I'll nail it uh and and phone people and get the the luggage tags on labels and put stuff outside. No, there were still bags in there that hadn't got labels on it. So I had two two call-outs on Friday night, and Fran and I had decided because it was my cooking night, I was gonna do something special, which meant get a takeaway. So yeah, bomb tie, um, my speciality, absolutely delicious. Uh but that was interrupted twice with luggage. Uh and then the third time, and we're trying to watch a film, we went um old school, we went to watch the Devil's Advocate. You remember that proper old film? Um, Keanu Reeves was a lawyer. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yes, yes, yes, yes, yeah, yeah. So we were getting sort of half an hour into the film, and and then the phone goes again, and it's but this time it was Harry. Uh Harry said, Oh I've I've I I I you might have to come and get me, I've got a sore leg. And then he FaceTime and Fran looked at it and went, Yeah, we're gone up to the hospital with that. So but that time I had a glass of wine, so Fran had to drive down and and we picked him up and um took him.
SPEAKER_03Good, good tactical wine, nice to see.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so Harry's on the phone and he's collecting and gulping wine down my throat.
SPEAKER_02I'm four bits down, darling. Sorry, who are you?
SPEAKER_00And I made that mistake of do you do you want me to come? And and and expecting the answer, no, no, no, you stay there, it's fine. Of uh, yeah, good idea. You can't oh my god, really?
SPEAKER_01What am I gonna do?
SPEAKER_00So other than sit in the passenger seat and uh but yeah, so we picked him up, and I tell you what, made here that oh horrible the adrenaline was clearly pumping, and he was like, There's nothing wrong. There's a massive, you know, two-inch gash on his thigh. Like, yeah, that we can almost see right through that. Um yeah, so that that was not great. And so we um um went up to the hospital and we were there till the best part of midnight, effectively, on on Friday night. So I was just oh knackered. Um but we thought we'd we'd finished it there. There was talk of them having to be sent to the mainland, but they they washed it out and then they managed to pick out a bit of branch. So there was some um high-stakes game of uh hide and seek. So Harry climbed a palm tree uh and promptly fell out of said palm tree into a bush, um, and a branch of the bush went into his leg, into his thigh. Um, and I don't know how he's done it, but he's managed to stand up or pull it out himself, and then sort of adrenaline's kicked in, so he's decided look at this friends, has shown all his mates his yeah, you know this wound that he's got, and uh yeah, they managed to find another piece of it up at the hospital. Um and then they stitched him up. Um they did a grand job and then sent him home. But in the meantime, they had been in touch with the mainland. So the Saturday morning I went off to work early. Key was nice and clean, so didn't have to go that early, but um uh then got back about lunchtime, and Fran said um uh Trellisk had been on the phone, we're going to the mainland for Harry. So oh, just the middle of gig weekend, which nobody wants.
SPEAKER_02No, no, no.
SPEAKER_00So they managed to flight, get a flight off, and great. And Harry was admitted Saturday night, and then this morning they went down for an x-ray to find that it didn't go in two inches into a leg, it's it's gone in the best part of six inches into his leg. Um, so yeah, pretty lucky that they they called him back and they put him under a general anaesthetic, and he went for an proper operation and opened it up again and had a prod and poke around. Um, I saw the report on it. There's like six litres of saline to flush and no doubt poke and prod around as well, uh, and found a bit more of uh the branch in there as well. So very lucky that he went uh went across and um uh sold them all back up again. And Fran's over there. The good side is that Fran got to catch up with Ellen as well. So Ellen was and and Truer, so not all bad. Um and probably the highlight for Fran was uh she gets to go shopping as well, so um always dangerous.
SPEAKER_03But didn't have didn't have a uh shipping bitch there that to carry all the bags.
SPEAKER_00Uh but the good news is that she did manage to pick up a sprinkler for me for the uh for the tough on the lawn. So nice um every cloud and all that. Yeah uh uh so in the meantime I I've been batting for myself here uh at home and me and the dog um panicking about what we're gonna eat. I'm looking at the dog food thinking that's about all I can cook. Um but managed to find a frozen pizza, so that was that was nice. Um and I'm not quite sure what I'm gonna eat tonight. I think another frozen pizza is on the cards. Um we'll see. I don't think I will. I think we've got some chicken there somewhere. Um there's talk of Fran talking me through how to get a curry, so uh how to make a curry, so I'm sure I'll be fine. Um and they're back tomorrow, thank goodness.
SPEAKER_03Thank goodness for that, yeah. Yeah, so Harry's been discharged. Hashtag pray for Dale.
SPEAKER_00Hashtag pray for Dale, definitely. I can't fend for myself. This is all new to me. Um uh and then Harry's been discharged with crutches as well, and the biggest bandage I've ever seen. So they've uh it's obviously painful because he's been discharged and he's got morphine as part of his pain relief.
SPEAKER_03So nice, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so um yeah, I think he he soon realized the seriousness of it all because he did not want to go. You know, this is gig weekend, all my friends are out, and this is the best weekend of the year, and he didn't want really didn't want to go, but um, I think he realizes now the importance of um when the doctors tell you you need to go, yeah, you definitely have to go.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, yeah. Oh good.
SPEAKER_00So quite quite a week or a weekend at all. Yeah, yeah. Well, uh I again he's sort of um he didn't miss out because he's m F1 mad and crazy. So I had I FaceTimed him last night so he could watch qualifying. And unless he's managed to get the Sky app working on the iPad, I'll be face timing him timing him this evening to watch the race um from Miami. So yeah, he he gets to he get he'll still get to see it as he rests and recovers and stuck to his phone.
SPEAKER_03And then we'll fly back tomorrow, isn't he?
SPEAKER_00Fly back tomorrow morning. I think we're on the 855 uh sky bus. Um so I just need to double check that the forecast isn't gonna have any hint of fog in it, because that's the next threat. And I'll need to get up super early to get on the first Salonian then to um to get across. Um which is not a bad thing because it is the the the kick the crossing will be really quick and that'll be a nice crossing as well. And uh they'll be back here for about 9 30.
SPEAKER_03So yeah.
SPEAKER_00He he was determined that he he's he's got work on Monday at Juliet's and it's gonna be a busy day, so he has to be there.
SPEAKER_03So on crutches, it's good for tips at him, mate. It's good for tips, isn't it? You know, fair days. Yeah, I'm not sure if he'll get many tips as he delivers coffee on crutches, but um you can you can I mean even you know, even I would struggle not to tip somebody who's sat there on crutches coming towards me, hobbling, pouring scolding hot coffee on themselves. Uh god, yeah. Times are odd, yeah. Some character have Oliver Twist arriving now on his crutches. Yeah, but yeah, yeah, no.
SPEAKER_00They're determined to get back, and he and he even more bizarrely, and perhaps it was the morphine talking, but he wanted to get back for school on Tuesday as well. All right, that is uh definitely the drugs were kicking in there. But he did say he's he's got a a week of assessments and stuff, so he has to get back for his assessments, which I was delighted to hear, and then I remembered he was on some heavy medication, so yeah. But um, yeah, but he's fine, he he's he's tiggity-boo, he was a bit green, France head when he came around after the uh recovery room after his operation. So um, yeah, I think uh he won't be climbing well, he probably will be climbing trees again this time. He'll just um be a bit more um careful, I hope. But boys being boys.
SPEAKER_01All right, all right, cool.
SPEAKER_03Well, uh I wish him uh uh uh a successful um uh recovery, successful recovery, yeah. Quick recovery. Yeah, and get amongst it.
SPEAKER_00So um yeah, so in amongst all of that, uh, and just being really hectic down on the water with the with the gig champs, which as I said, it's been brilliant. Lots of people down the key, a huge amount of people out boating as well.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, weather was the weather good day, was it?
SPEAKER_00Weather was excellent for race conditions, fantastic, and and the rain held off until the final race today, this afternoon, the men's final. Sorry, the open final, you're not allowed to call it the men's final. Um uh the rain started, but it wasn't too bad. It was still it was no wind, so it was just sort of a light drizzle of a bit of a bit of wet, and then everyone's off for the presentations now, and then I imagine they might go and have half a shandy later.
SPEAKER_03Um god, they get the boats on tomorrow, though.
SPEAKER_00Is it the double sailing double sailings tomorrow on the Monday? Um, first gigs start being returned tomorrow as well. Um, so two full boats, uh best part of you know, 500 people heading back on each boat. Um, yeah, it's gonna be a hectic day down the quay tomorrow. Um and it all kicks off.
SPEAKER_03Day off you tomorrow, then yeah?
unknownNo, no.
SPEAKER_00Bank holiday Mondays. We don't know. We we work all the bank holidays anyway, so um yeah, we'll be down there and uh double time for that, is it? I I don't get any of that either. Um something's wrong here, isn't it? I sort of texted um some work colleagues and then realizing it's Sunday and none of them will be at work or looking at their phones, but um or even tomorrow. Even tomorrow. Uh I I was planning a catch-up with with my boss um who politely reminded me it's a bank holiday. I went, Oh, is it?
SPEAKER_03Oh nice, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll be in. Don't you worry.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Give him a link to the podcast.
SPEAKER_00Well, he's got it. So um, I better be careful actually. Yeah, exactly. Hope you had a lovely bank holiday. Um as I was left alone as well. I thought I'll because Iska's been she comes down the office and um uh she's she's pretty calm and used to it. No, not with you know, thousands of people kicking around and the smells and everything I mean that'd be crazy. She was just she was just going bad, but it was you know, everybody loves a puppy, so she was well looked after, but you know, it's like oh no, I'm gonna have to try and keep her in the office. But soon half an inch of door opens, she's gone, uh, and out she goes and to play with everybody outside and run around. And yeah, it's um I I forgot to mention this as well. Even in the mid the midst of all the excitement of the week and the build-up to it, we had a visit from um Will Bax, who who's um secretary and keeper of the records, so he will you know runs the duchy, um, with a a reporter from the Times as well. So we took them out on on the John Guy for a trip to um let them have a a look at our new pilot vessel and explain the the runnings of the harbour to them. Um so it'll be interesting to see when that piece comes out in the Times.
SPEAKER_03So um I mean you mentioned the podcast to him, didn't you? Because he's on a time, so he'll make sure that that gets you know put into the uh the newspaper and the you know the listeners will just skyrocket, mate. After uh you wouldn't have forgotten that, would you? You wouldn't have forgotten that.
SPEAKER_00No, I I yeah I did. Yeah. So what I need to get is is there's a photographer with him. Um I'm not sure if he's um one of the royal photographers, but I've met him before and um and he comes on lots of visits. So um if because you'll read you'll read the times. Um when you see when you see my photograph in there, bet just let us know so that we can tag it um uh in in our Instagram page. And uh yeah.
SPEAKER_03I doubt it'll come up. I'd I've heard it. I do read it, it's on my Apple News, but I'm not sure if that article will come through. But we'll see.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Starting searching for it. So yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Get on there. Couldn't it be good? Did you get any golf in this week? I suppose you probably didn't, did you?
SPEAKER_00Had to cancel. So Friday I text uh Tim to say I'm not gonna make anything on on Friday. Was planning a weekend at some point, it wouldn't have happened now. With what's happened, but I I cancelled on Friday with Tim saying, I'm really sorry, I'm not gonna make it. He went, Oh, don't worry, I'm going to the mainland. I was like, All right. So we wouldn't have played anyway. Um so yeah, Friday night didn't happen. It was it was never gonna happen. That was it's uh gig weekend's so hectic anyway.
SPEAKER_03So yeah, I was thinking evenings now must be light enough to get nine hours and off to work.
SPEAKER_00They are. I even thought of this evening because I could go around and you know get a bit of practice in my own, but um no, it's too late. I've got too much to get ready for tomorrow. So I I'm I'm I'm eyeballing next weekend.
SPEAKER_03That frozen pizza is not gonna cook itself, is it?
SPEAKER_00I was thinking of the um oh hang on, I even got Alexa reminding me to feed the dog.
SPEAKER_02I wonder what it was in the background.
SPEAKER_00Is that feed is Alexa, switch off uh reminding me to feed the dog. Well, I have already done that, so um I'm nailing nailing this.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, itsk is already worked out how to set reminders on the uh Alexa, so he's now uh getting double fed.
SPEAKER_00I wonder what other uh um reminders France set for me, actually.
SPEAKER_03Dale, wake up funny, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Half breakfast. Um yeah. But uh bit bit strange, but looking forward to them both getting back tomorrow and get this week out of the way. And next weekend we we generally have to have a quiet weekend and and catch up and rest. I think it's been um May is going to be an exceptionally busy month anyway, with not just with cruise ships generally. So there's we got one every few days, so sometimes sometimes two in a day.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, two bank holidays as well. It's my in his mail as well.
SPEAKER_00Two what, sorry? I think two bank collars of them. I'll be I'll be at work, I'll have to ask the boss. Um uh yeah, I got pilotage on Tuesday, first cruise ship, uh second cruise ship, I think, for me, um, which would be good.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you you got your LIs from the last one, haven't you? So uh just uh bear those in mind.
SPEAKER_00I'll um I'll mention the podcast. Yeah, how how's your week been, anyway?
SPEAKER_03My week. Uh so two rounds of golf, um both 40 points. Um, so handicap's coming down nicely, so I think so. Yeah, I'll keep forgetting when I say 40 points, you means nothing. I don't know what that means. Yeah, well 36 is your handicap. Um and remember you you never really hit your 36.
SPEAKER_00I'm not 36.
SPEAKER_03No, 36 points is your handicap, not yours. Calm down. Um and then so anything above that would be um you're shooting under your uh your handicap. So uh that was the old course and the new course, so yeah, it was good. Uh I had a uh I uh uh crack in uh uh on the 18th on the new course of uh bunker in the bunker, could drive into the bunker annoyingly took me two to get out, and then I um uh uh an eye enter just off the green and I got my potter out and then no one else was watching apart from me, and I patted it, I've got to say, best part of 60 feet uh into the pot. Yeah, I I cheered, uh it's a massive green, and I was off the green anyway. And I sat there and I shouted out like a and the playing partner just kind of looked over, didn't see it, and it was some complete stranger from the other side who looked to him. No, I didn't see that, mate. I said, Well, it doesn't matter, I saw it, it's fucking epic. Uh and then realised it was still for a bogey, but I was happy that uh but actually, yeah. So I think but of course, you know, bogey golf, you know, bogey golf is 18 handicapped, so uh, actually had a really good round of that one, so yeah. Oh yeah, so yeah, uh two rounds of golf, and then Friday, because uh the army navy are kind of eased off on the uh golf on Friday golf. I thought I'd come home just to sort out anything else that needed to be done and you know appease my guilt uh for leaving the uh patient uh in the house for 24 hours, and then yeah, yeah. Uh and then um Saturday, yeah. So my journey began. Uh learnt about public transport um and that the Scotland uh none of it fucking uh meets the first flight, so that was a bit shit. Oh joker. Oh no, I've been raving about this Ember bus electric bus service, it's like anywhere in the Highlands for two quid, like fantastic, like brilliant. Can I get and don't get me wrong, it would get me to Inverness for the time, but not the airport because for some reason there isn't a stop on the airport, there's no stops near this, isn't it? So um I did email them. I mean, you know, I can't be the only person that's gone. What the fuck? Um the end I just drove. Um got there.
SPEAKER_00Did you in your email please tell me you mentioned do you know who I am? I um one half of Islands to Islands podcast.
SPEAKER_03I mean, I've been giving you guilt. I have been giving you guilt about not advertising the podcast, but you'll see from my stories that uh I'll I I'll save you the uh the expectation, mate. No, I haven't either. Um uh and then yeah, flew down uh Inverness, delayed flight, air traffic and fog. Um uh which is a bit of a pain because I was in the lounge the um um in the lounge and I kind of like you know they called forward. Yeah, you can see on your app, yeah. I knew it was delayed already, it's like 50, you know, uh the thing on there, but they made us queue up. And of course, once you're out the lounge, that's you, you're out. You've used your ticket. Um and yeah, it's another hour delay. I mean, it was you know, I was always gonna make the game, but uh um and it's in some ways it's not a bad thing, it just means an hour less drinking. But yeah, got on the flight, got down to London. Um Heathrow.
SPEAKER_00How many drinks did you have on the flight?
SPEAKER_03I did I was because I'd an early start, I tried to get kip in, so I did a pint for uh getting down there. Oh, okay. It's like you know, when you sit there thinking, I could I could, you know, but it's like you got it's it is a literally a marathon here. Um so yeah, have you done Heathrow? I was I had to get from terminal five to terminal four, that's where the hotel was. And uh what should nah train the tube? What should have been a relatively easy uh you know, you like to think there'd be one stop, but no, you get the just it's well if you're ever doing that, it's just a bloody pain. It's a good three quarters an hour to get from there because you've got to get to terminal the main terminal, which is terminals two and three, and then get another train. I was just like, and all around me is people that are missing flights, etc. And I'm just sat there giving it, it's a bit shit to be you. Um but while it's been extremely helpful, you know, um uh lifting people's luggage and etc. and being extremely polite to people. I'm a big fan of that. I just say, no, you know, have a nice day, you know. You look after have a great journey and stuff like that. And people thinking, who the hell is this weirdo in London? Because uh talking to people, exactly. Yeah, no one in London talks to each other, so yeah. Uh but then yes, uh met up with uh a couple of friends, haven't seen for trying to think when when Tug was up here a while anyway, and then yeah, off to the Armor Navy, um, which was as we know is just uh just uh a session uh and it was beliteringly hot. Uh oh really oh yeah, I had I had a gile on, which is too much. Uh um I'd forgot my sunglasses because I left Scotland in the the in the in the kind of the you know um grey at that time in the morning and forgot to put sunglasses on, so being blind the whole time there. Um but yeah, it was it's a good crack. It's just absolutely it's just carnage. It's a whole of Twickenham is just we got an Uber from the hotel into Twickenham. Um so we've got a few pints around there, and it's it's just it's just it makes me smile. The amount of people in there's the fancy dresses, the it's like yeah, the Smurfs, there's some good ones in there, you know, you kind of stick in your mind some Smurfs and the uh um where's Wally and all that kind of stuff. And then uh yeah, we just we've sat there chatting, bumped in a couple of people I knew, and then um we just casually walked into the game. I and I I must admit I I wasn't really in charge of the uh uh timings anyway by that stage. But uh we got our drinks, and then as we literally walked up to the stairs, uh the uh national anthem was going. Um it was like and us and our and our uh seats were like literally right next to the stairs, so it was like perfect, and then uh yeah, yeah, within uh I think the first minute, well first touch of the ball, uh um the Navy had scored the first try. So it's like, well, this is gonna be a good one. Um and then yeah, it turned into a cracking game. Um uh yeah, which we won. So back-to-back wins for the uh Royal Navy against the Army. So I was trying to think yesterday when was the last time I actually saw well, I went to a game, so they won. I was just like, well, it's it was decades ago since I last went to an Army Navy. Um but yeah, and that's uh two on the bounce. So it's brilliant, yes, incredible.
SPEAKER_00Um and then with uh with that, so I mean that's a longer way to go watch Army Navy, um uh and pure dedication, so kudos to you. But um, do you know any of the players? It's like which who's the shining light and the uh no, no, I don't I don't yeah, I don't follow it.
SPEAKER_03It's not really you I'll get what you mean. Yeah, so um I I don't follow it enough to to get uh to get involved in that. You know, in the day I probably uh um um I would have um known people, but um no. In fact, probably I probably uh um played with them in my heyday, but yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um could have been you on that patch. Could have been you.
SPEAKER_03I was never that good, mate. Never that good. But no, it's good to watch them. Um it was nice to see the uh no, but it's it's a it's one of those events, it's like a veterans well, it's it's all of it, um um both serving and veterans all kind of congregate on uh um Twickenham. Um and you just but you just bump it into people you haven't seen for years. Um so yeah, and then we yeah, and then the wonder out that it was it's just a big piss-up then from then we went into Twickenham. Um uh again, various people went seen for years, uh and just complete strangers, in fact, just sat there chatting away. Um I went to Richmond and I went to Richmond, so uh I got very excited because I've just been re-watching uh Ted Lasso, and so we got there. I was like, oh, we need to get it, we need to go to the pub. That's not my first thing. So uh uh we stopped on by the river first uh for a few, and then we yeah, we went to the Ted Lasso pub, which was uh epic. I was just sat there taking over the photos.
SPEAKER_00I saw your post and and I it's not mentioned. Did you play dance?
SPEAKER_03I no, I gutted when you said it because I I kind of sat there and I was like working out uh where you see all their shots from. So we were stood by that part of the bar, yeah. Um, and so I was like, oh cool, and then but I totally forgot about the dance.
SPEAKER_01I was like, shit.
SPEAKER_03Uh barbecue sauce.
SPEAKER_00Um but uh um yeah, so uh how much is a pint in the uh Ted Lasso mate?
SPEAKER_03Do you know what I um I don't ask those kind of questions?
SPEAKER_00Did you kitty up or do you no?
SPEAKER_03We were just we were just tapping and go. Um just tap and go. I didn't look at it once it literally gave it and I'm a log lighter now, a bit too scared to just open the uh the ocean. It we it to be honest, in a round, and we were on lagers and uh beers the whole night, so nothing got silly, uh which is good. It was just it was just a nice plod. Uh I managed to squeeze in a couple of uh um spaces in there, cheeky uh can of coke and a pint of water uh during it, and then uh a lovely Indian at the end.
SPEAKER_00Um, very good.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it was yeah, very you know, normally when you come away from those things, you're just eating too much. It was uh I literally just said tug you uh order. I said I said I don't normally like hot ones, but I know what I'm not even gonna get involved. Just order some food and I'll just we'll just split it. And it was it was good, yeah. And then um yeah, premiere in then got back. Uh went in a lounge on the way up in Heathrow. Oh, bloody lounges, everyone's in them now, aren't they? Honestly, I sat there and uh you know you pay for this lounge access on bank accounts, etc. And you get there, and then one of them was pre-book. I'm like bloody so I'd walk to the other side of T5 and I got there, and there was a queue, so I got in and a woman said, Oh, you might have to uh uh it's busy, and okay. So I walked in there, and there's all these tables that just got reserved for, and I went, Who are they reserved for? And I mean there's literally no they were reserved. I said, Who are they reserved for? Or people who made bookings. I was just like you're just being gash here, you just literally can't be bothered to clear up. So uh honestly, I got slightly frustrated. I uh grabbed a uh uh full English you should miss the tender.
SPEAKER_00Do you know who I am?
SPEAKER_03Well, I wandered up and down trying to find uh someone to sit with a uh full English on my hands. I was like, and it was nowhere. I was like, and there's all these empty seats that have got reserved on it, and like I just thought, you guys are a scam here. Anyway, there's a lovely couple that were um believing, so just kind of grabbed my attention. Oh, we can sit here, and yeah, a couple of hours in there, and then yeah, got my flight back and uh no snags at all. So, yeah, a good weekend.
SPEAKER_00Effectively, so effectively you've gone to Army Navy, which is in a roundabout way similar to um the gig champs here. So there's there's clearly people who take it very seriously, certainly the players and the and the rowers, um, and and the top-end rowers who who train you know like Trojans all winter and dedicated in their their diet and their training plans and regimes and um all set to be you know world champions. And the but the other side of it is just a massive social event for the generations of people who are coming here. And similarly, for your army navy, you as you said, you're gonna have people there who are diehard rugby, and this is what it's all about. But actually, the bulk of them are probably catching up ex-players who've played in it and can't carry on going to it, and all the associations go there, uh the Royal Navy Association was there.
SPEAKER_03You know, again, it's uh it's huge, and it's it's always and I always remember uh when I was uh back in the day, it was always the event, you know. And no disrespect to the RAF um uh team and the supporters, it just never seems to get the same kudos with the uh the size of the event.
SPEAKER_00Um not through the Army Cadet, the Army Cadets um um and my foreign to assisting and helping them, they mentioned that that you know that's an event that they'll they'll take and and and various um platoons from from around the UK will come down to be invited and paid to go and and and witness the Army Navy match at Twickenham.
SPEAKER_03So what I'm saying is what you're saying is you actually joined the uh uh you are helping them out, but basically you're gonna get an all expenses paid trip to Twickenham next year. Um I don't think now you can look after miners when you're on the piss. I don't know, I'm not sure about the rules, you know. I think they've tightened up on that one, mate.
SPEAKER_00Well, I I might just say that none of I might just not tell the cadets then and say that there's none of them there, but I'll take the ticket anyway. Um and go for it and stay in London whilst I'm there.
SPEAKER_03Um yeah, so anyway, I'm um um uh spoke to Tug. We're going again, so um obviously I was gonna book the flight today, to be honest. Uh but um they don't book the bus today. Yeah, yeah. Uh but actually did the bus should have a bus stop there. Yeah, so yeah, flying it was it just it was seamless, you you forget. A 45-minute trip down the road to the airport, and then yeah, London was no hassle at all. I was gonna back by lunchtime here, really. Um excellent. So, yeah, wandering wandering around the longest bit was wander around Heathrow because um I I couldn't sleep well last night because you're always thinking you're gonna miss your alarm. And uh that was about four hours early for me flying.
SPEAKER_00Classic.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, cool.
SPEAKER_00Just in case for one time, yeah. But the um how how is the patient then? Because Anna obviously feels like me, abandoned at home, alone, left with the dog, so I can you know she was dying to go out.
SPEAKER_03So she I don't think she'd been out for 24 hours. So she she came back. I was like, and I just and I had that look of somebody just obviously looked comfortable, sat down. She went, Oh, do you want to go for a walk? And I was looked, just like, no, I've just I've just been travelling all day. I mean, as much as I just said it was a really easy travel, I used that excuse, and then uh um so she went, Oh sorry, I'm going for a walk and just bug it off. I was like, Okay, but uh no, she's good.
SPEAKER_00Um how is the recovery going?
SPEAKER_03Well, she just went for a uh stomp earlier on, she's back. Um just brought me a beer. Um wow, yeah, which is good, and then uh no, no, um, in uh peak condition. Um, yeah, yeah, very impressed. Fizio was impressed with it. So nope, she's up there doing her stuff.
SPEAKER_00Has um have you trialed the uh late night pop upstairs and see how the stomping goes, or is that uh is that is that too early to tell?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you're right. I've been uh yeah, I haven't heard any stomping now, you know. Maybe she uh maybe it's cured it. We'll see. If it has, I'll let you know and you can uh get a frown on the waiting list.
SPEAKER_00And uh I've just uh you're you're going up to uh to Aberdeen, you're gonna stay with Lee and Anna for a bit uh post-recovery because it'll be very quick, and then uh and then you can come back.
SPEAKER_03Exactly that, yeah. But no, no, all good weekend. So yeah, and uh she's all good. Um so yeah, yeah, no, so uh relatively busy. Um go try and find something to do tomorrow. Spankly Monday up here, so yeah, both off. Good forecast. I haven't looked at the forecast. We we had a really epic weight uh weather and it's just gone a little bit grey. We haven't got that high pressure on top of us. Oh no, it's I've just literally flipped on it now, and I can just see uh sunshine all the way through not warm, but um sunshine. So yeah, yeah, certainly in the morning. So yeah, we'll get out, I'm sure. Um and then I need to uh although if Anna's not up for it, um I might play golf.
SPEAKER_00Uh I want to see that that uh handicap tumbling then. I've been watching I've been watching quite a bit of golf this week. Um, so especially with as Fran's not here now, I can switch on the PGA tour. I was watching some of that the uh Cadillac open.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00Um which has been quite good. I think it's today is the last day of it, isn't it?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it is, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00So um um I'll I'll watch a bit of that tonight and then uh then Formula One. But that that's been quite good, that um the PGA tour. That's I quite enjoy watching that then.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, they've all teeded off now, yeah. Um yes, the the final group of uh Scotty Sheffler and uh although fine that Cam Young is uh seven shots uh ahead, so I think he's uh he should be right, even against Scotty Sheffler. But you never know. You never know, I guess. You never know that guy, but yeah. But no, I might have a quick uh flick on there. And the uh did you watch last week's of the uh Fitzpatrick Brothers? Um yeah, so Alex uh obviously Alex has got in this uh uh uh Cadillac Championship, so he's uh he's he's not he's 13th at the moment.
SPEAKER_00He was joint fifteenth last night.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, 300 already today on the uh yeah, so he's doing well.
SPEAKER_00That tournament they won, they did stumble to the end to be fair. I mean, don't be wrong, yeah. They nailed it, but they made it a bit of a nail biting finish, didn't they?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he stiffed that um shot out the bunker uh from the pin there. You can't I get out. Cheers, bro. That's what you want.
SPEAKER_00Obviously, been watching some YouTube clips on uh how to do that, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. Uh yeah, is that how you're getting all your uh um golf um uh advice is at YouTube?
SPEAKER_00No, I I'll be honest, I don't look at YouTube at all. Um so but I did speak with Russ this week about the driver. Um again, I was cooking, I was cooking, so I went down for fish and chips and uh chatting to Russ about the driver and about his ping driver, and and he was explaining that he he actually went in for another one. He didn't that wasn't what he was after, and he it wasn't American golf, he went to Mullyan. Yeah, you can get you can get um measured and and you get a range of clubs and it and it explaining about you know what because he was saying to me, you know, you can go and tell them do you want to hit it higher? Is it is it lower, you want to be hitting it lower? I said just hitting it, mate, it would be great, you know, just straight. But um, he was saying, no, you they you get you have a selection, but pull three or four different clubs out. Um, and he said you'll be surprised that if you know your clubs and you'll say, I want that one. Um he came away with a completely different club than he thought he was gonna get. Uh yeah, it happened to to be that ping one, but um is he got the new ping, is he?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, G440. Yeah, it's on my list, but you are right when I um when I do get down, I've got another lesson check in the diary then and not next week, the week week after, but I might uh book in for a fit-in. But you are right. I'll uh as much as I'd love to the the ping, I'll get the um club here does tailor-made ping and tightless, I think. So uh and uh calaway, so I'll go down there and just get them to um play around. But but from what from yeah, it uh I'll probably come away with my high handicap. The pings are an extremely forgiving club, so it um so it's got a lot for the uh that, but yeah, I've heard good things about the uh new um Taylor made as well.
SPEAKER_00But which is funny to say he was going in for that. I think it was he said either it was either gonna be the Taylor made or a Callaway that he was hoping to get, um, and he asked for the the Taylor made because all his irons that I got from our Taylor Maid.
SPEAKER_03Um not his P790s, are they? I don't know what that means, but um the make.
SPEAKER_00Um I know the Taylor made, uh but but um I I I get on really well with them. Like Three I Three Iron especially is my favourite club, honestly. It is I I yeah, it's brilliant. Um but he was going in for a Taylor made um driver, came away with a ping, so yeah, yeah, no, you're right.
SPEAKER_03Which is expect, yeah, depending on the uh uh and you know, like I say he's a good golfer, so he knows what uh he knows What he was trying to achieve. And uh um yeah. And he knows he knows the scoring system and stuff, so like he knows so if you told him uh you scored 40 points on the bounce, you'd he he would turn it straight away say you absolute uh uh sandbag. Uh which you know, hey, you gotta put your you gotta put your uh handicaps in, mate. So you know they all went in, so that was you know, they were all uh they're all on my Scottish Golf. So it brings it down, but it's still ridiculously high. I spent the whole of uh last year just going up and up and up. So yeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, all all the rounds that we play now, we're gonna um uh well, see we mean Tim and a Friday, we're gonna put cowards in. I'm gonna try and get Friday and uh either a Saturday or Sunday because um the Sunday afternoon by Harry's quite good fun, but he might have been out of action for a bit, or that now's my chance to beat him as he's on crutches. Yeah, definitely, yeah. Yeah, so definitely we'll play for money.
SPEAKER_03His pocket money, you can gamble your pocket money. Um yeah, okay, cool, yeah, good work. Um, yeah, I mean like yeah, for me, the shift band it works quite nicely, just offsetting one of the um shifts, either play before work or after work, so um, which is always fun. Um but it is yeah, it's the way forward trying. But uh yeah, we'll have a go tomorrow, possibly. We'll see what's going down in Chinatown.
SPEAKER_00I had um so in between all the excitement of Harry and Fran being away and gig weekend and being back and forth to work, I managed to get out and do a bit of bit of gardening this afternoon. Oh this afternoon, was it this morning? Um got the hedge trimmer out and um attacked the uh the hedges at the back of the uh the garden there. It it it looks like a hurricane's gone through the garden if I'm honest, but um they're trimmed back nice and neat-ish.
SPEAKER_03Okay, cool.
SPEAKER_00Um and the turf, honestly, I've I've I've looked after this this grass over the last couple of weeks now. It's two weeks in. Um, you'll see it over the summer. Hopefully it'll still be there. If the dog oh the bloody dog, um, it keeps running out and and and ripping out the plants that Franz planted and coming back with them as if, like, oh, look what I got you. It's uh like bright you little bugger.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it's probably probably getting attention anyway. So, oh when I do this, everyone comes around me. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00No, she was told off today and and she's been banished from the lawn now. So um I'm just looking out there. Actually, I managed to that is looking pretty neat if I say so myself. I managed to fill a ton a ton bag of uh of clippings. So um did the uh the classic I I I saw on Instagram somewhere, is put a tarp down first before you start. Yeah. Um then then uh yeah, did that. But uh highlight of my morning was was getting the uh finally the DeWalt leaf blower into action. Yes, yeah, yeah, and it's brilliant, absolutely brilliant. So that that has um that's definitely paid for itself now with that one one use on the lawn of uh blowing blowing the uh the the cuttings around that I missed.
SPEAKER_03So yeah, my I've got my I've got a Bosch one uh and it's a blower and a sucker. So that's an outside hoover as well.
SPEAKER_00I know I haven't got that mode on the bottom of it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it goes into a bag behind it, so you just go around when you've been doing the uh uh the string and then you it's certainly around the um instead of blowing it somewhere that you may not want it because um you put it in the bag and then you can dump it that way.
SPEAKER_00I've found the um I watched quite a lot of the funny sort of reels and stuff. There's one of a um a woman in an American garden doing exactly that, like sucking up the leaves, but the uh the zippers open on the bag, so they're just pissing out behind her as she goes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I could definitely see that one, yeah, happening.
SPEAKER_00She's still out there, apparently. Still still trying to clear the lawn. Um but good good work uh has been made on the um deck. I know you saw some of it. But we've um um uh Man Who Can, Charlie. He's he's carried on. We've got Patty all the way down the side of the uh the garage now, and we've got steps, we've got uh steps up to the um well I said uh originally it would be a putting surface, but we might start uh chipping, maybe maybe a chipping surface, but uh um but yeah we've got some steps up to lawn now, which is great. Um coming on great guns, and hopefully I just thought what I said earlier about having a quiet weekend, I think we might be concrete in next weekend. So that's your back.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, stand by for next uh episode.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and then uh uh locks arrive this week on a landing craft um for the front of the driveway. That's that's arriving I think Tuesday into Wednesday. So by telling Wednesday. I uh yeah, you know, like uh uh pavio book breaks. I thought you said locks, and I was like, wait so we got um lots of uh pallets of them arriving. I think there's I want to say sixteen. There's a lot. There's a lot, a lot. Um and twelve bags of sand to go with it. Um so yeah, that's gonna be yeah, yeah, there's no quiet weekend coming at all, is there?
SPEAKER_03No, there's no you're trying to keep I was laughing when you say we said that. I was just like you know you never say we've got quite a weekend coming ahead. If you do, that's it.
SPEAKER_00It's actually probably gonna be one of the busiest weekends of the year.
SPEAKER_03Yes, I I I always enjoy that part of the uh the uh uh podcast, and I say, Oh, what's been happening in the docks? And you just go on how busy you are. I was like, well, one day, fuck all he, really, nothing.
SPEAKER_00Ah, you know, and and and I that was a really abridged version that was really snip cut short of what happened. Um low, we even had a medical emergency down there this week. Uh a dear old lady had fallen, tripped over her feet, and hit her head, which resulted in an ambulance call out. I and I I can say this now because she's absolutely fine, and she's she she did get taken to the mainland because of a head injury, but she's fine and been discharged. But um right at the end of the day, you know. Really? Come on, could have been any other time, yeah, yeah, yeah. But yeah, bless her. She she was okay. Um, yeah. Quiet, quiet weekend. That's what we're I don't know, I don't know how we plan that. You have to go away, I suppose.
SPEAKER_03Um yeah, you do in your asshole, yeah. Franch's and jobs you off. Oh as soon as she sees you sat down, that's it. You're on.
SPEAKER_00Backside is hovering just about to hit the chair. Oh, I do. I'll since she sat down. Oh or or or perhaps have a uh suspected heart attack. You get a week off then.
SPEAKER_03Uh sure she was trying to kill you then. Uh anyway, so uh uh sorry Fran. Uh no, no. Um so yeah, just look at the stats. How are we getting on? I've been uh quick little perusal then. Um we are yeah, America's coming up. Poland. Poland as well.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Poland's coming in and and Warsaw.
SPEAKER_03Okay, yes.
SPEAKER_00Matsovia, I've never heard of that, but um hi uh to our Polish listeners. Hope you're all doing well there. Hope you've got better weather than me at the moment because it's raining here. But I'm I don't know, and I don't want to say this too loud. Well, too loud, it's online. Um I'm pretty sure it rains all the time in Poland, doesn't it?
SPEAKER_03Don't know, mate. Wouldn't want to offend our listeners uh over in Poland.
SPEAKER_00But so get in touch with either some photos that it does I think it does get quite sunny there. There's some stunning architecture, if anything, in Poland. But um yeah, it always when I mention it or or think of it, it always comes up as a sort of grey, wet place in my head for some reason. Don't know. Um I'm sure it's not. Tim went there that um not long ago. Um uh and with Carolina, his girlfriend, who is Polish. Um it's absolutely fantastic, he said. And to be fair, it was sunny. I saw some of these photos, so I am wrong.
SPEAKER_03Um, you're not even waiting for the photos, you're now declaring yourself. I'm wrong. That's it.
SPEAKER_00Well, but no, but it's just this sort of um people mention Poland, they go, Oh, yeah, probably grey and but damp and wet. It's like Aberdeen, you always think you know, the granite city, it's always wet there.
SPEAKER_03Uh it always it is it is pretty um grey and uh wet, and it's cut it's always cold in Aberdeen. Until it's not, and when it's not, it's lovely, but um, yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's because it's unusual. Yeah, this is unusual.
SPEAKER_03When the sun is out, it's nice, but yeah, but yeah, it is normally cold up there.
SPEAKER_01Singapore, mate. I tell you two percent there. It's good uh coming in nicely.
SPEAKER_03They're still coming in and listening to, and they bless them.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and um uh nice Jim Jim and Andos are still listening to Netherlands. Oh, I haven't seen that.
SPEAKER_03Well, some people from um uh Netherlands, so I've I've assumed it's those two, but it could be anyone.
SPEAKER_00I hope it's them. And if it's not them, come on, Jim. I know.
SPEAKER_03You've been told to listen, yeah. Well, if you're listening, congratulations on the wedding and the new house.
SPEAKER_00So oh, new house as well.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah. Don't mess around, buddy. Don't mess around, yeah. Anna's end of the month, I think Anna's gonna fly out there. To rearrange it, yeah. That's the wrong place. Put us here. Um, yeah, so she's gonna, yeah, so she I think she's just uh that's a project to get it fit, make sure she's uh good to go and uh uh do that. She's got she's got Teddy with her. So um what could go wrong?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, exactly. I'm still I'm about to bust out laughing, just thinking of the her uh was it where were you when she had her bicycle incident?
SPEAKER_02That was Amsterdam. Uh yeah, that was Amsterdam, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but you managed to capture it on film, which is epic. Commitment to the cause there. Watch my wife fall off a bike. Well, she did fall. I didn't notice she took Rasty hip uh hip injury there. Um I don't know if that caused any uh serious uh long-lasting effect.
SPEAKER_03That's a good point though. I bet you don't try um finger out again on a bike when she's out there.
SPEAKER_00Is she gonna go out on a bike? Or or or did she get a little um well electric bike at least?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Um be alright.
SPEAKER_00Uh another place we got is uh Tijuana um California. Uh Baya Baya is it? Baja, Baya, California. So um that's gonna be not far from where you're going soon. So uh maybe people maybe they might get in touch and give you an Airbnb. Now you've probably booked your accommodations.
SPEAKER_03We haven't, in fact, we've stopped, but we've uh had to rearrange the um we were about to book it, but I think with these bloody flights and insurance issues, we're now sat there thinking uh we might just uh well we won't pay for anyway. I think we're just gonna reserve one, I think. Um better be safe.
SPEAKER_00There was something on news about that today. The government have uh allowed um airlines to cancel weeks in advance rather than on the day sort of thing to prevent them getting um taxes or whatever. So uh all plans uh well nearly finalised then for the trip or yeah, yeah, it's all good.
SPEAKER_03I think we're just basically um probably book the Airbnb this week. In fact, might do it in a minute. Or at least reserve it.
SPEAKER_00And then that's have you got a massive uh muscle car to hire? Or just no.
SPEAKER_03I don't think no. I've got a bit of higher car, but it won't be a massive um thing like that. It'll just be um simple. I don't want to be driving through town. I'll be tempted tempted to go electric.
SPEAKER_00Um you'll blend in nicely out there then, wouldn't you?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, well, it's California, so yeah, I'm hoping so. Yeah, um uh it might be cheaper than the uh fuel, but we'll see. We'll see. Right. I'll tell what I've got to do, buddy, is I've got a hot tub uh that's bubbling around uh for me. Um so I I've got um Anna's poke at me uh to uh um get amongst it. So I'm gonna love you and leave you.
