Dale and Lee return this week and discuss Lees medical miracle recovery plan for Anna. Dale gets a shock at the replacement driver fees whilst Lee offers his expertise in reviewing gadgets, food and medical issues - just get in touch! Golf, gardens, freight and lots more are part of the the conversation between the two brothers-in-law this week.
Welcome to Highlands to the Islands. I'm Lee, chaty to you from the Highlands.
SPEAKER_01And I'm Dale, living life here on the Isles of Scilly.
SPEAKER_00Each week, we'll swap stories from the Highlands to the Islands. Local news, DIY disasters, barbecue bragging, golf frustrations, and all weird and wonderful stuff that fills our weeks.
SPEAKER_01Basically, it's two brothers-in-laws having a laugh, trying to one-up each other and bringing you along for the ride.
SPEAKER_00So, grab a copper or a pint, and let's jump into today's episode. Dale, what's been happening on the docks this week?
SPEAKER_01I've got no idea. I've been on leave this week, which has been great. So I've been trying to distance myself as much as possible from work, work-related things, work phone calls, work messages. Um I've genuinely got no idea what's happening down there. Although I think the um the freight and the the uh passenger service is slowly getting back to normal. The Salonian's back operating, the Grime Aretha's returned a couple of times since I've been off. So in saying that, my freight, which was uh down for being delivered on the landing craft today, um, I had to turn around because the weather was too rough for it to get across. So um another delay on freight, which is a shame. But it has made my my weekend ahead a little less uh easier that um I don't have any lugging patio slabs around. Uh it it's coming, but uh it's yeah, it's uh it's not here yet, so I can relax uh for another 24 hours. It's true here. It's weather been poorly, is it? Um sea conditions, I think, uh just got the better of them. So they headed out from Penzance. They were due to be in today about 10 in the morning. Um quickly after letting uh go in Penzance, the skipper had text to say, yeah, it's looking more like half eleven. Uh and then the next message I got was they're back in Penzance. It was too rough. So gonna look after those patio slabs. Um they'll be on their way tonight slash tomorrow. They should be here tomorrow. I think the conditions are improving a little bit, so but other than that, no, it's been been at home. Um, no long lies or anything like that, but uh just uh a gentler pace, shall we say, or not as taxing. I I I say not as taxing. It's worse. I've been cooking and cleaning all week.
SPEAKER_00Oh mate, tell me about it.
SPEAKER_01Turn down and the house husband and and cooking meals, getting the washing sorted, walking the dog, all those um they're not they're not pink jobs really, are they? I suppose it's uh they've been shared, but um, but you've you've been you've been you've upped your game. You've you've been basically a um uh recovery centre.
SPEAKER_00Tell me about it. Been washing, cleaning, cooking, working, all of it, all of you know, um, but it's all part of uh Dr. Lee Elliott's uh method of recovery. So uh I mean I can let you into it if you wish. Um it's uh so uh by day one, Anna was obviously uh uh stranded and couldn't really do a lot uh after the hip hop hip operation. Um and then at the moment I think she's digging some holes uh with the new plants I've just bought. So uh uh I can hear you say, Lee, how have you done this? Have you well, you know, um in fact, yesterday I got back from work and she'd cooked a full meal, baked a cake. So, you know, it's uh the Dr. Lee Elliott's uh method of recovery. Well, I would rather be in immense pain moving around than have me look after her by the sounds of it. So yeah.
SPEAKER_01Or or your method of recovery is just you know so uh space age and and modern that that you it's remarkable recovery by Anna based on your your um your healthcare technique.
SPEAKER_00Exactly, exactly that. That's exactly what I've said.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, people will be flooding into uh contactors to get your hints and tips on you know hip op recovery, knee replacement, ankle surgery, elbow surgery, any any sort of major surgery, contactly.
SPEAKER_00Uh I'm thinking about franchising it, mate. I can I can see this one, you know, I can get health centers around the globe.
SPEAKER_01So is Anna out in the garden with a spade now digging home?
SPEAKER_00No, no, no, no. Unfortunately's quite annoyed she can't. So we've just been uh nipped to the garden centre uh to get a few uh um um more plants um and uh more bird feeders, yeah. More bird feeders. Uh got some dirt uh compost for the potatoes, and yeah, when I was in there, I got some what were they called? Oh uh not Azaleas. Well they have at the Masters. What's Masters famous for? Uh Azaleas, yeah. Azaleas, yeah. Yeah. So uh uh I saw one of those, they're not fucking cheap, are they? Jesus Christ. So anyway, so I thought we'll chuck that in there. So we I went round and uh did my uh it was my time to uh to buy it, and I kind of just went, right, okay, cool. We'll sort that out tomorrow. And the look of horror on Anna's face. No, I want to put them in now. I went, well, I said, I ain't doing that. So uh chucked up, I've put them in. You know, I said, Where'd you want them? So she's just I've just moved them around there. Anyway, I think she's as I was moving upstairs, she was currently uh bribing Teddy to dig her some holes. So she's got Teddy out there digging the holes.
SPEAKER_01I've got images of Anna sort of uh commando crawling across the lawn to get there so that she can dig the holes.
SPEAKER_00I mean, the look of it, as I as literally as I positioned uh, I said, right, good. I'm glad you don't try anything stupid. I'll sort these out tomorrow. Whenever you know, you'll probably want to move them around a few times anyway. And that's why I like you know, just to see if it fits in the garden, if it's right, you know, take a good look. And then tomorrow's another day, you know.
SPEAKER_01Offer them up to a certain place, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, exactly that. You know, you've got a little anyway. Uh yeah, as I was leaving, she'd uh bribe in Teddy£15 an hour uh for digging duties. Uh I'm not sure his maths is really that good too. It's not an hour's worth of work, but uh, we should see.
SPEAKER_01Well, if he if he's bright, if he's bright enough, he'll drag it out over three hours and that was yeah.
SPEAKER_00If I hear the if I hear the uh uh lawn mode going, I know she's done she's getting her hours worth out of him.
SPEAKER_01Well, I'm amazed that she's she I'm amazed that she's not uh still bedridden and she's been up cooking and cleaning. So uh honestly well done, you yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yesterday I got back from work. I knew Fras would be back and uh uh I got in and I could see that the colours the she she was uh on the uh uh on her chair uh but with a smile of uh contentness, knowing that she'd uh uh cook dinner as a cake there and was just waiting for me to arrive as if business is normal. So it's very nice. So uh um, you know, um there's still a few I'm I've still I'm still required to pick stuff off the floor, and as clumsy she is, there's quite a s quite a quite a few, um quite a bit on the floor, but uh that's a shame lids and stuff like that. But yeah.
SPEAKER_01Wow, how long is the recovery recommended recovery period?
SPEAKER_00Uh six weeks.
SPEAKER_01So with your uh uh new techniques, that's six days.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, great, it's a week. Yeah, basically it's what was it? Friday today, so she went in for the op uh last Thursday, so yeah, a week, bang, done. Back to work. Back to work. Well, not quite back to work, you know. She's I hope her work's not listening.
SPEAKER_01She's screaming in agony, she's in pain.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, exactly that.
SPEAKER_01Well, fair play. If she's uh managed to survive a week with you looking after her, I mean that's that's another thing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, well, yeah, that's all part of the uh recovery method, some say. Uh the the will to survive, it's all part of that, you see. It's uh it's all the mental part of it.
SPEAKER_01So uh have you have you been when you say you've been cooking, have you actually cooked the food this week and and not say uh left it raw?
SPEAKER_00Um we did have a retake on the um on the salmon, uh and it was cooked, thankfully. Um and uh we had a brilliant argument on pasta cooking. Um I didn't think you could have an opinion on pasta, it's boiling water, uh and the the discussion, shall we say, the heated discussion was on was on whether the lid should be on or off. Um and I and I'm like, well, if the lid's on, it requires less heat um to stay boiling. Um but you just gotta be a bit more careful with it, etc. etc. Um she was adamant that it makes I think the term was it makes the pasta soggy. And I I just looked at pasta in water and went how is this making it any soggier than that? I mean I get it that you know it requi it it well it would requires less heat. Um and if you leave the lid on, then there's a good chance that it could bubble over. I get that. If that's the point uh you're coming from, but the sogginess of the pasta caused a lively debate, shall we say, uh in the Elliott household. Uh again, all part of my uh all part of my recovery plan. So uh anyway, uh the pasta was lovely. In fact, afterwards, she just kind of sat and she had to eat some humble pie. Yeah, the pasta and the summon was lovely. Um and nobody died.
SPEAKER_01I I well I I I'm surprised that you didn't uh invoke article AI on that, and uh and and and and and uh consult the uh the the of course I did. Of course I did.
SPEAKER_00I got what did they say? It's exactly as I just said then. She talked absolute all shit. But when I used that as my evidence, uh I was just thrown away. So I just had to just sit, smile, and grin, and just uh go on. But yeah, so uh uh yes, but I got I cooked pasta this week as well, actually.
SPEAKER_01I'd um I did spaghetti and meatballs and uh made my own uh homemade garlic bread as well, which is always better.
SPEAKER_00Love it. It is, yeah. You get more garlic, more butter. Um plenty of garlic. Yeah, so the salmon was done, yeah. So uh I mean uh you know that's probably the only thing that was cooked from scratch. I mean, you know, that's not really a lot of scratch, but it was so it was raw salmon, so and this time it was cooked, so we can say that. Uh and then the rest of it, Anna had already prepped uh loads of meals, so we just uh I was just heating the stuff up there, which worked quite nice. Um I taught her uh uh Lee's way of uh uh cooking peas. Oh with steam those I went that makes too much mess. Go out there, chuck in the microwave, boom. There we go. Don't mess around there trying to steam them.
SPEAKER_01I did I well, I tried it this week. I um uh broccoli uh in the steamer um as a pasta was cooking, that didn't work at all. There was I don't know if it can become more raw. Um it felt that way. They ended up in the microwave.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you can't beat it, it's sticking the pot, it's a frozen, and it just goes in there as it defro it's justn't frozen, it was fresh. Oh right. I mean, for the peas, uh no-brainer, anyway. But yeah, so uh I mean but I mean Chuck us out, Master Chef. So uh what are you gonna enter Master Chef next year?
SPEAKER_01Um as Ellen said to me at the table, you sort of I I've done two or three meals in a row and suddenly think I'm at Master Chef, and and that's uh that's my confidence level. Now there was talk of shoe buns uh and and becoming a pastry chef and and whatnot, but that's um maybe another coup, couple days away, or or some Amazon orders of uh uh kitchen where yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I tell you, I think Anna does like it on the uh when I'm when I do take part in the uh the uh household business because I'm I'm now looking at things like a new Hoover. I'm like, what are you doing using this Hoover? This Hoover annoys me, it does not pick up enough stuff for me. Um so I'm now on the which website finding the best uh uh Hoover. Um I'm I'm torn between cordless and corded because uh well may many a price uh price, but um um and if you want power, obviously uh um corded always works, yeah. Corded works better.
SPEAKER_01But um I think I think you should set up your own uh Lee Reviews uh website um sponsored by Highlands to Islands. Uh and and and people can uh ask, get in touch, text WhatsApp or uh Instagram or email us and and ask you to review their their bit of kit, whether it's laptop or advice, laptops or or kitchenware hoovers, anything like that.
SPEAKER_00Oh, but yeah, any listeners other than these video review stuff. I've got an opinion on both things when it comes to tech.
SPEAKER_01I could start you off. Um I need I need a new driver. Um I de I definitely need a new driver because the other one's cracked. Um nice. All right, Sergio. Um I broke it. It was uh it was Russell's one as well, the one that I think last week when I played with it, there's this weird noise coming off it, and I was like, Yeah, it's just me hitting it wrong all the time. And then I looked at it when we got back to the clubhouse and I was like, no, it's got an actual crack in it, uh, an actual, you know, it's it's it's buggered basically. So uh I need some advice on a new driver, so um I'll wait for the 18-page review uh recommendation from you.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I don't I don't need uh I mean I don't want to steal this whole podcast and make it another golf one, uh, because it's not in the title of it, but uh I don't think you can go wrong with a ping.
SPEAKER_01Really?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but unfortunately you you're not gonna like the price of them. Um and if you if you're gonna if you're gonna get a ping, you ideally would like to be fitted. If you're gonna buy second hand, yeah, um, which is fine. I mean, you know, you what tell and half. Do you know what's what shaft was on that?
SPEAKER_01Was it stiff or uh it was a straight straight stick?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but was it was it stiff or uh uh actually I think as you're on now, I think it might be in the hallway. Yeah, I I mean I know Russell will know as well. It's gotta be Russell's uh swing speed is gonna be.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I've got it here. It's a cobra. Yeah um it's a cobra, what does it say on it? Motor E. 6. Uji Kura. What the hell?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, go on, then carry on. Is anything else on there?
SPEAKER_01So that's the yeah King Rad speed cobra carbon thin ply wrap.
SPEAKER_00It's on it's actually on this shaft. It'll be the the the you're looking for the word stiff or standard or senior it says S Flex.
SPEAKER_01So is that standard flex, is it?
SPEAKER_00Uh no, that'd be stiff flex, I think. Um yeah, I will have to have a look. Uh we'll Google that one beforehand.
SPEAKER_01Um so golf bidder or stand standard std degree.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's standard degree. Yes, uh, where's that? On the driver heads. 10.5, yeah. So yeah, that's just that standard setup, which is about average. Um, funny old thing though, when I eventually get around to buying my new driver, I will have a driver for sale, but I'll probably trade mine in. Um and it is a nice cobra. Um, but yeah, you can't go wrong with a ping.
SPEAKER_01Ping.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well, I mean, I may be waiting. How long? How how much is a as a ping?
SPEAKER_00You get brand new, are you?
SPEAKER_01Or are you uh well, I just I because I don't know. I I'm sitting down, so I'm waiting to hear the shot for a price of a ping.
SPEAKER_00I'm not gonna tell you because it's my one my sister-in-law is a grass, and she will tell Anna what it is. So uh there's no chance this conversation goes on there. Uh so uh, but uh uh it's pence, really. It's only pence for an it's it's just a couple of peas, it's not a lot of money.
SPEAKER_01So uh get two is what you're fucking hell. I've just looked online. Geez, all right, Kitty.
SPEAKER_00Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Well, you know, they're very forgiving, no doubt. That's what you're paying for.
SPEAKER_01I hope that's a fucking hoover for the same price as well.
SPEAKER_00Well, that's it, it is the price of a hoover. That's where I'm torn between a Hoover or that.
SPEAKER_01Um I think you'll probably need to be a Hoover for that price.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you'll need to get you'll probably need to fly up here, mate, to get fitted at my club uh and then take it out for a spin. Just saying, you might as well if you're here. Um but uh yeah.
SPEAKER_01Sorry, I just I don't want to carry on too much about golf, but there was something about is it X Cali that I saw online? Um X Cali golf clubs. Uh I'm just looking at it now, sorry. It stuck in my head as some couple of guys started making uh golf clubs, affordable golf clubs, but decent enough that they're you know that they're half decent. I don't know. Um I don't know if you've obviously not heard of them.
SPEAKER_00No, no, my silence should tell you everything you need to know about that. If you if you're asking for Lee's reviews, uh there's uh sealance on that one. I I mean the funny to say that because I don't um because I only because I was there l last week, Costco's uh clubs have got various some good reviews. Um Irons and yeah, I think the drivers are the colourway drivers they've got in there, which you know, um yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um I always do this first and then work back. Um best golf driver. No, I'm not paying that much.
SPEAKER_00No, yeah, but again, but I mean, like all things, it's if you look at what there is, like the new stuff, the second hand market of everything else is cheaper and cheaper. You're unfortunate you haven't got the uh the advantage to be able to walk around uh uh golf shops or uh clubs and then get the ex demo stuff and go, oh, right, hang on a minute, because you don't need you're right, you don't need the 440 um, whatever it is, the new one 440 uh max. Um you don't need the 440, but the 430, you know, which is what a couple of iterations down, you look at a second-hand market and compare the two now, and you've gone, ooh, um something to consider, mate, something to consider. Um, but like I said, probably better do it face to face here uh when uh your wife can't see the and I'll get a uh uh a receipt that says something more acceptable for us.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm gonna I'm I'm definitely gonna have to go back to work soon to uh start something.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Well, uh that's it. My my driver fund, which I've had since I retired, uh has been blasted. And uh it's still most well, it's there, it's there. I just need to make the um um uh yeah, just go for it.
SPEAKER_01But um I'd want a tracker on the club for that price.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I know.
SPEAKER_01Wow, cheaper. Well, my eyes have been opened.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. Well, that's you know, mate, when we go on golf tour, this you're gonna need this kind of stuff here. So you're investing for later on, is what I'm gonna say. If you if we're gonna try and blag some sort of golfing holder, you know, this is the kind of uh equipment you're gonna be needing to uh uh but that that that brings with it its own pressure.
SPEAKER_01Somebody goes, Oh, he's got a new ping in his uh bag there. Watch this, this would be fancy.
SPEAKER_00Slice, yeah, yeah. A few people, you know, me, all the gear, no idea, but people just get used to it.
SPEAKER_01Happens to the best of them.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I I've just got over it now, to be honest. I'm just like, well, whatever. Uh does it make me happy? Yes, threw you. Uh and the conversation. So, yeah, that's it.
SPEAKER_01Well, I've gone, I've gone back to the old driver which um mysteriously had two dents appear in the head of the uh of the driver. Um, but that that was on fire. Harry Clark. Well, potentially Harry Clark, but no, we'll never know, apparently. Um uh, but so I had to put that back in the bag, and that was on fire today. That was yeah, honestly.
SPEAKER_00Why are you saying this? Your your wife who listens to this podcast, just lie, okay? It was awful, you can't, it was like the worst thing in the world, and that got smashed into bits, unluckily. Never mind. Honestly, honestly, that's why you'll never get a new driver, and that's why I will never tell you how much they cost because you'll tell your wife.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna get some seller tape for that cobra.
SPEAKER_00Hashtag you're not coming on golf tour with me.
SPEAKER_01No, no. Um can't afford it if I'm gonna buy a driver, Chris.
SPEAKER_00Well, hey, here's one for you. If you can last out long enough, if you manage to get up here for Christmas, it could be a Christmas present. Bran, if you're looking, what a great idea. And you could come up here, you could get fitted, and then bang, away you go.
SPEAKER_01Well, uh there's well, Fran will be listening. And and actually, she uh she called me the other day. Not only did she post our chat uh online.
SPEAKER_00What's actually quite funny, by the way, Fran, but uh I I didn't realise.
SPEAKER_01Apparently, I said that we do not have a bird feeder in our garden. And I don't remember saying that, but she's she threatened me that I did say that. And we have we have got one single bird feeder in the garden. One um that's oh shit, no, it's two actually, because uh Harry made a little bird table out some of the old timber we had in the garage. So that's there with stuff that Franz made on there, just lots of oil and fat and nuts. Um And then this uh bird feeder hanging off another bit of wood off the fence, which I keep hitting my head on. Um so we have got a bird feeder. Nothing in comparison to the 18 bird feeders you have.
SPEAKER_00So I know, yeah. Because she can't uh drive at the moment, Amazon are now uh shipping the uh um uh mealworms arrive today. I think the niger seeds arrive for the goldfinch tomorrow. It's just constant freaking bird seed.
SPEAKER_01Well, I'm I'm I'm definitely not gonna be putting any bird seed out. Our turf is on the boat tonight. Oh, nice. That's uh tomorrow's job. So I'll be up not too early because we're out tonight, but I'll be up early tomorrow uh to prepare the soil um and get all geeky on it. I've already been looking at websites. Um how to unravel a roll of turf basically. It doesn't seem that hard uh to me at all, but uh I'm sure I can cock it up somehow. But I I've got to get up early to get the get the soil ready and raked and last sort of few anything that's that's on there, any few weeds or bits of grass or seed. Um and then I was gonna invest in a water pistol for any cats or birds that might um attempt to get on the the lawn over the next six weeks.
SPEAKER_00Uh okay. Have you got a oh yeah, I keep forgetting. You've you you don't have a lot of water on the cilia. I was gonna say, why why haven't you got a sprinkler?
SPEAKER_01Uh and then uh just use a sprinkler just to that that is gonna have to be, but uh like me, um, because I haven't ordered anything in advance. Um if I order it, the the grass will be dead uh before it gets here. So um it's gonna be me in the evening with the uh the hose. Okay, right. Um until uh a sprinkler arrives. Um done the hardware store. Uh for about 400 quid there would be, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um well shop local, mate. All I'm gonna say is if you don't buy it from there, it won't be there anymore.
SPEAKER_01I don't know how anybody could shop there. I'm I'm sure they sell ping bloody drivers in there, the pricey stuff as well. It is um no, I uh the there's a joy in in ordering stuff online sometimes. I agree with you, just shop local, but that's normally for food stuffs we do that. The butcher here, um uh anybody else who've got local foods, um the farmers who do either um beef sometimes and stuff like that, the local eggs. But not not for a sprinkler. There's no local sprinklers here.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, right, they're all from China, let's be honest. Um it's not as if it's made locally.
SPEAKER_01No, no, but um, but yeah, so that's that's uh getting no bird seed at all for the next few.
SPEAKER_00And don't forget, locally, you like to buy local artwork. Oh, yes, yeah. Um get Ellen's artwork. Ellen's artwork, exactly that. Yes, yes. She needs to work on her branding, by the way, so we can uh ensure we're uh advertising that and then she can sponsor us.
SPEAKER_01In fact, she she could do a um uh a motif for us, could she? Uh Highlands to Island. So I'll uh badge or logo, which is I think I'm gonna say quite well established now.
SPEAKER_00Um yeah, that's the problem. You can't go change it now, mate. You've got we've already got the uh uh uh the brand now.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and it's on Digby's uh sales. Exactly, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Exactly.
SPEAKER_01Um we're gonna have to get some more of those stickers then. Have you got any left?
SPEAKER_00Yes, I have, yes. Uh the only the the only person that has them is Digby.
SPEAKER_01Oh well, but I I I was waiting for you to start um you know putting um putting them on various things that might be. See what I love about that.
SPEAKER_00That that that was an idea. That's a great idea. Uh and uh um and you haven't taken it. Uh yeah, correct. And it's your idea for you. So maybe when you order them, you may should have thought, oh, I'll uh uh I'll get these for me and you'll go around and you can put it on all various ships.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I will be doing that. In fact, it's a pilot. In fact, I am gonna do that because it's pilotage season starts on Monday with our first cruise ship. So it will be stuck in there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, cool. Sorry, all the comms weren't running. Sorry, I had a little uh um comms fuff there. Um someone's trying to buy something on Amazon, by the way. My phone was beeping at me. I think I've changed credit cards, and uh uh whoever tried to buy something can't because you've got the wrong credit card. Uh I'll teach them. Um I've got a funny thing that might be for um uh uh um Xbox points or something in lieu of cash.
SPEAKER_01Uh uh you're paying for his his work.
SPEAKER_00Well, yeah. Mind you, I don't I can't see uh an hour's work there, so I'll be checking the amount. Um anyway, so I've I I got uh lost then. Um I forgot what's going on about.
SPEAKER_01Uh saying um the uh cruise ship season starts next week, so I'll I'll be getting some more uh um of those were they foil stickers? Foil um like the um what are they called? Uh I forget the name of it now. The sort of foil we used to get them with the uh football stickers when you're growing up. Anyway, I'll be getting some more of them. I'll start putting them on some of the cruise ships that arrive when we're doing pilotage. Um or even on some of the yachts. Yeah. Getting the yachties into the uh I'm sure they'll enjoy a podcast or two as they're sailing across the ocean.
SPEAKER_00I mean what you could do is don't even ask 'em. When uh who you got who you got collecting the Jews on the boat?
SPEAKER_01Uh all everybody and uh the whole team really.
SPEAKER_00I mean Yeah, just get them to uh uh as a method of payment to confirm they're paid, they've got to have a sticker on. When they paid, you stick a sticker on there. Uh yeah, we've got to stick this on here, sorry. It's just we know it's got high-tech uh cameras and they pick up uh the uh uh uh uh RFI sticker uh on the on the so we know you're paid. Uh something like that, I'll do.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'll we'll get a few of them around us somehow, but it's a good opportunity to um to start spreading the word. Um I don't know if we should put the year on it as well next time. Highlands to earnings 2026.
SPEAKER_00Nice, yeah, that'd be good, yeah. Make them collectible then, you see.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you can you can date age uh our listeners then. Oh yeah, and listen to the beginning, have you? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that'd be good, yeah. And then you can change them slightly every year, you see.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's that they're gonna cost the same as a ping driver.
SPEAKER_00Um, yeah, exactly. The merch, start selling the merch, and none of the profits from the podcast. I still wait merch can go towards that.
SPEAKER_01Still waiting for um Bear Note in Canada to sell us the BD, or not sell us, to send us the BD um for um Bordo Lawn and Landscape. Um, which we buy.
SPEAKER_00I think I to be honest, I think you uh signed up for that deal too early, started getting the advertising out a bit too early before you actually seen the goods. Um less and land. It was, he's probably just too busy uh now with the work from the advertising from the podcast. Um and uh he hasn't got time for to send it out, maybe. That's all that's all I can assume.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you're probably right. I think um he's we we we we are the reason behind his booming business. Um I'm sure we get a mention somewhere.
SPEAKER_00Exactly right. I like to think so anyway. But uh yeah, uh cool. Yeah, good idea. Probably uh uh you can stick on some boats, I'm sure they won't mind uh other multi-million pound yachts with a uh dodgy uh Chinese sticker stuck on it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, a couple of the private yachts as well. There was one in the other week, that um 50 meter private yacht, so I'm sure that's uh yeah. I in fact that's a bit of a challenge now. I like that. I'm gonna I'm gonna do that. I'll have to take photos of photos of where these stickers have been.
SPEAKER_00Well, of course you've got to, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And then uh and then put them on the page.
SPEAKER_00Although you could argue that that is evidence when someone's trying to accuse you of doing it. No, no, no, no, no, not me. And they go to the Instagram account to see a selfie of you stick it on there.
SPEAKER_01You know, just well, not with me in it, it would just be evidence that look what I've seen.
SPEAKER_00Um nice, yes.
SPEAKER_01Like it so we done there's spotted at St. Mary's Harbour. Where did this come from?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it could be good. I mean, I like it to be honest. Yeah, it's just it could catch on. You could start trending it. Well, there's there's hope. So there's hope there somewhere. We'll get there. Um I've just uh I've just had your uh your eldest has just uh uh been up here visiting. I hope he's been on his best behaviour. Always is always is. Um yeah, it's been good as gold. Um short, short visit, wasn't it? It was, yeah, it was, yeah. Um I believe he has spoken to you, so I'm not grassing on him about uh missing uh fuel cap. Uh no, no, yeah, I know about that. Yeah, yeah, he did say he did make sense spoken to us uh uh in Birmingham. But um yeah, no, it's good. Nice car he's got there, to be honest. Very impressed.
SPEAKER_01Uh he's lovely, lovely car. He's lucky boy, he's he's loving it. Um, it says freedom now, so he is out and mobile, and yeah, um, especially being in Glasgow. He's well, as you know, so he's he can pop up to you guys. He's across to see my dad today. Um, he'll go and see my mum over the weekend. Um, yeah, he he and he does like to get out and about, he's very sociable. He likes to go and travel around. So he's got a set of wheels. He drove all the way down from Glasgow the other week as well. But but um first big journey. So um, yeah, quite jealous actually.
SPEAKER_00Sort of like he was uh it's nice to see he's kind of uh got out that uh Salonian uh uh always a long drive over there. Um piece. He was uh uh uh yeah, I've uh uh I've heard a few times uh uh that see uh yeah it's like going to your dad's it was like uh uh uh an hour and a half drive as it's only around it because it's only an hour and a half standing up the road. 20 minutes, good man. That's what I like to hear, phrase.
SPEAKER_01He's been on the mainland, he's been on the mainland too long. That's what it is.
SPEAKER_00I see. Uh so yeah, he popped over there. Yeah, it was like so it's well over the moon. And and in fairness to him, I mean, driving around in Glasgow is certainly going to uh uh expedite his driving skills uh a lot more than uh uh well, certainly mine. Um although he's reversing into the uh driveway yesterday was a little bit so yeah. It was uh well as I was reversing myself back, I was like, Oh, I'll uh I'll I'll come in at a jaunty angle to avoid you, shall I? And then uh uh correct it near to the spot, but bless him. And even after I uh uh had a little bant's with him, he did it went out and we took the dog out. He went, Yeah, you are right, that is terrible. And I went, Well, I mean, I wouldn't call it terrible, it it just wasn't in line with uh Anna. So um I've certainly reversed worse than that. So uh don't be harsh on yourself.
SPEAKER_01What I noticed is I I drove his car because he had left it on the mainland when he came over to Silly, and I went over for a day trip. So I borrowed his car for the day, and uh no sensors or cameras. And it's like oh that that that that's like oh I I you know I didn't, but that's the sort of excuse you. Well, I hit that because the sensor didn't go off.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean I'd be screwed. Um yeah, he did mention it.
SPEAKER_01He said uh interestingly, uh, you don't uh have the uh app uh what three words uh installed on but then so like everything with me, it becomes a a mad panic rush, last minute.com when I'm traveling, going, where are we going? Oh shit, I haven't done that. Uh and he had sent me the message days before of here's where the car is on what three words.
SPEAKER_00Now I did have what three words on, but it had un I don't know how it does it, but the the app you haven't used it for over a year, so it's now yes.
SPEAKER_01So I looked at my phone, I thought I haven't got time to download that to go find out where it's working. Absolutely. Just torn on just so uh I I still haven't downloaded it. I should do it, it's a bloody good app. Um, and I I won't I'll be sitting there in an emergency one day going, fuck should have downloaded that.
SPEAKER_00I know, I know, I'm loving that. Why don't you just do it now, mate? You've got the phone in front of you, just press it. All you gotta do is press the button, mate. Literally just scroll down, type in what free words now, the app will appear, click on it, and it will start downloading. And we'll all know because I mean people listen to the podcast thinking, oh well, it's an emergency.
SPEAKER_01Oh panic. People will worry. Hashtag pray for Dale.
SPEAKER_00Um exactly. I'm I'm I'm I can feel my anxiety coming up already about it. I'm sure I'm sure I could.
SPEAKER_01I have got it, I've got it on my phone here.
SPEAKER_00All right.
SPEAKER_01Oh no, it isn't downloaded. You're right. Which language would you like? What?
SPEAKER_00Here we go.
SPEAKER_01See English Canada. What's the difference between English Canada?
SPEAKER_00It's got a lot more French in it.
SPEAKER_01English US. Well, I've never seen this one. English brackets India. What the f what I mean is Indian English.
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_01English Austral Australian. English UK. There we go. Hello. Come with Key all boys. Uh it's asking me. I hate this. Continue with Facebook, continue with Google, sign in with Apple.
SPEAKER_00Just sign in with Apple, it's easy. Sign in with Apple. Job done. Bang. Problem goes away. Uh I mean, I I mean, I don't think this is great listening, though, listening to you download the pot. I thought you could do this silently, I must admit. I'll uh what I'll do is I'm gonna witter on. Uh and uh what can we what can I talk about from List? Well, I don't want to carry on talking about golf, but uh literally the next three subjects are all golf. I'll try and compile them into one. Uh Masters, epic, Rory wins. Yes, that was good. It was emotional, emotional the whole way, up and down the whole way through. It's just great. You gotta love Rory.
SPEAKER_01I know when we spoke last week, I was sort of saying he's either gonna romp it or um somebody will pip him to the post. But I didn't see that happening. Like the lead changing so many times. I know for him to be two shots behind, but that whole I felt so sorry for him. But at the end of it, I I sat up watching it and uh we had had people around for dinner that night as well. So those couple of bottles of red they vanished. Um, and I sat up too way too late and and thought it'd be a good idea to celebrate Rory's success with a whiskey as well. So I had a whiskey afterwards, and um yeah, that wasn't a good idea. I think I got to bed at like half past twelve, quarter to one. So that was the next morning when I sent messaged you. I was I was out early, walked a dog, and then out to uh do the patio. Yeah, uh sweated it all out of me then.
SPEAKER_00So I bet you were being I bet you weren't super grumpy at all that morning because everyone knows Dar's a morning person with a hangover. What could possibly go wrong?
SPEAKER_01There was there was nobody else up, so I I was nobody be grumpy. Fran Fran went to work, the kids slept in until like four in the afternoon or something. I don't know what time they got up, but uh um no, it was it was uh it was quite an enjoyable morning. Had my air pods in, listen to music, uh raking away. Um and then I forgot what I did in the afternoon, but it was it was quite a good day actually. Little snooze Lima Lima Delta. I didn't actually What? What's the point of being on leave?
SPEAKER_00You can't do Lima Lima Delta. I knew one this afternoon. I had one today, yeah. I did, yeah. We sat there, and one of our neighbours came round and she blessed us. She was I mean, uh well, Anna was having a uh resting.
SPEAKER_01You invite people around and then fall asleep in front of them or no, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_00So we were sat there, Anna was having a snooze, and I was watching the uh um the latest full swing season four, just started on Netflix. Um, in fairness, I had to rewind the Masters episode, which is episode one, about four times. I mean, I knew what happened, but I just wanted to watch it because I kept snoozing, and then uh yeah, we we we were uh uh Anna was interrupted on her uh snooze, uh but she's allowed to snooze. She's got she gets green lights for snoozes from me, so she's okay. Um that's part of uh Dr. Lee's uh uh recovery. So snoozes are uh uh mandatory.
SPEAKER_01Snooze therapy, yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01When I when I nipped out for nine holes with Tim today, uh Fran took the opportunity for a Lima Lima Delta as well. So um it's catching on. Um I was tempted to go myself, but um, but we're out tonight again, so um it should be nice. It should be uh um uh St. Mary's Hall. I think we we spoke we went there the the other week with uh when the kids were here. We went um but we're going to be a little bit more. It's basically my cooking night again. So that's four nights on the trot. Uh I'm gonna need a Lima Lima Delta after this. Um, yeah.
SPEAKER_00No wonder you can't afford a uh ping driver, mate, if you're eating out there. Yeah, uh that that might be the reason why. That's that's why the reason it's on my shopping list and not yours, because I don't uh eat in uh uh uh at uh uh there.
SPEAKER_01That's um that's a good point, actually. Um and maybe I should count up how many times if we don't go to uh to eat out, does it take to save up for a ping driver?
SPEAKER_00Honestly, I could how many people coming out tonight? I reckon once.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's it's it's six of us tonight.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, there you go. Yeah, definitely once. Yeah, yeah. But uh, anyway, it's all about making memories and it's lovely there as well. So it's nice, that's very envious.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but I'm looking forward to it. It'd be it'll be a good crowd as well. Um, yeah, and to be fair to Fran, I think we've given her a rough deal. Uh I mean, um last week she she uh she she didn't take offense, but she was like, the gloves are off now, Clark.
SPEAKER_00Don't then don't start admitting some sort of or maybe I was a little bit mean to her. Listen to you stepping back there, honestly. Just gravitess, accept it. It's it is what it is. In fact, you gotta double down, don't sit there and it's kind of well, maybe we look. If we were in any shape or form thought anything we said was true, we wouldn't have said it. So there we go. So that's not an apology, but that means I am doubling down. Um, and so uh yes.
SPEAKER_01I'll be checking checking your food when you come to visit Lee. Pran will not forget.
SPEAKER_00She won't know. I mean uh yes, I I I was gonna say something it would have been rude, so uh uh I won't say there what I was thinking there.
SPEAKER_01Uh in other news, I have got what three words now, so I'm I'm I'm safe.
SPEAKER_00Oh, thank God. There we go. I've wish well enough. Um, so yes, Masters Rory was great. And do you have you watched Full Swing before, seasons, three seasons before? No. On Netflix?
SPEAKER_01No, I don't see no.
SPEAKER_00Really? Oh no. That's that should be that should be your uh uh weekends watching. I've already done two episodes already. It's it's like the Formula One uh documentary that you they did uh for the F1 and uh and all those sports documentaries. Yeah, well it's the same same people who do that, do uh full swing.
SPEAKER_01Okay. I saw the Rory um McElroy um documentary with just about him winning his his green jacket last year.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was good on Amazon Prime. That was very good, yeah. But uh anyway, so yeah, so Full Swing season four is on. Get it watched. Uh that's my recommendation for the weekend. I've got a funny feeling though, Fran might not buy into that one.
SPEAKER_01I think there's there's more chance of us going back to watch Crime 101, which we still haven't watched yet.
SPEAKER_00So yeah. Uh I do need uh uh a recommendation for the weekend, to be honest.
SPEAKER_01Uh I I find myself going back to uh good old um Brooklyn 99.
SPEAKER_02Nine!
SPEAKER_01Nine nine! I'll be watching it today. Uh yesterday, I watched a lot and go back from the beginning as well. I I absolutely love it. Uh, in between that and when Ellen's home, I keep forgetting how good Shits Creek is as well. Um so that was uh I I love that programme as well. That's really funny.
SPEAKER_00Um it's okay, I could take it or leave it. I'm not a good one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the the other one I I really love is um the I know you do is the American Office.
SPEAKER_00Um I've watched that. I mean I I if I'm on yeah, if I was on Holiday for two weeks uh with the TV around me, my snoozes would compile of uh I I I I would do exactly as you said, I would start one of those from the beginning, and then it would just be my there's no one around. I'll sit down, put my TV on, and just watch episode after episode of that until someone said, Hey, you've been stuck in front of that seat. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Uh you can you go no, Don IK, and then just like put it on an iPad when she's watching something else. But yeah, that they are my go-to's, I must admit.
SPEAKER_01I um I went up, I think I told you the other week, um, going through the process of uh whatever checks and courses you need to do to become uh uh an adult volunteer for the cadet force. Um so they had uh some chap over from the mainland uh this week, and I was up doing some mandatory training that you have to go through. And there's a lot. Like you know, I'm sure I was telling you last week, I think it was when I was in the cadets, it was just, you know, well, I don't think people were bullied as such, but um it probably wasn't far off it. But uh and anybody who wanted to help out was just yeah, in you come and help. But uh and and rightly so, the checks that they do these days are they are thorough and and um you can imagine you you know, you can't go working with um y young uh uh kids um from twelve or thirteen. I think they need to be from for cadets up to up to sixteen, seventeen without having all these proper checks and and uh and courses that you have to do. But th there is a lot to the point where I was thinking, you know. I just wanted to come and help out. This is suddenly realizing that there's gonna be there's a lot more involved. But nonetheless, I went up for the parade night on Tuesday night, and it was bloody brilliant, actually. One of the new uh adult volunteers did uh her lesson, and and it was it was on uh um it was an introduction to sort of first aid to to um it was Dr. ABC, you know, what do you do? Yeah, casualty, and uh and uh she had Resussi Annie out or Annie as is on the floor, and I just thought of the American office and going, quick, she's dead. There's no too, no time to waste, you're gonna harvest the organs. I was I was trying to explain this to some of the adult volunteers, and they looked at me as if I was some sort of fucking alien. Like, yeah, you who are you talking about? I was like, Yeah, I'll keep that to myself from now on. Have you not watched American Office? Christ. But um, yeah, that was all the way through. I just had that in the back of my mind.
SPEAKER_00That's a great episode. I remember that when I said that, that didn't make me laugh.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but like the best one I saw uh whether it's an intro to it or not, is um when he does the fire test.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, that that that is, yeah. That really is uh uh yeah, yeah. I mean, I yeah, that and although uh that I see in the last episode, which I love, and I always try and say that occasionally is uh uh no one told me uh I was living in the good old days. Yeah, um I wish I knew if someone told me that I was living, and I always think about that. It's you know, if you want to, you know, we'd be grounded. This is the moment, you know, you're never going back. And it's it's it's it's a lovely, lovely piece, as a you know, that last episode. Uh, because it's a great great season, the last season, but you always know as it's coming closer to the end, it's like how's it gonna how's it gonna pan out?
SPEAKER_01But um yeah, I heard a rumour that there's a potential uh Ellen keeps me up to date on these things. Um there's a potential for a a Brooklyn 99, either a one-off or uh um really yeah, I think it was substance. I don't know, she's she's got her ear to the ground on these sort of things. Um so that'd be interesting. Obviously, they can't have Captain Holt anymore, but um that'd be interesting. And then uh Harry told me today or yesterday that it has been confirmed of Top Gun 3 is in the making. Um has it, apparently, and so I'm going from my kids who are you know on Tinter Web um getting this maybe fake news, I don't know.
SPEAKER_00But it's the only reason I've kind of said that is I've seen that advert is that there's been loads of adverts in my for uh a while on um Facebook kind of coming up with it about that, um, and they just use various AI images whilst they're doing it. I mean, don't get it wrong, we we discussed it at work that the that rescue um uh of the US airmen. Um you you you want to be in that film, that's gonna be an epic film.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but I'm just um as you were chatting there, I googled and it says Top Gun 3 is officially in development with Tom Cruise returning as captain, Pete Maverick Mitchell, Paramount Pictures confirmed at CinemaCon 2026 that Top Gun 3 is in active development, and a script is currently being written.
SPEAKER_00There we go, then that's good enough for me. Well done, Harry. Sorry, to date you uh to uh doubt you happy days, yeah.
SPEAKER_01That'd be that that'd be good. I I did like Top Gun 2, if that's whatever it's called.
SPEAKER_00Um that was epic. I reckon that I reckon they're gonna use this, uh they might try and still this uh uh rescue uh piece here. I mean it makes sense, it would be yeah, it would tie in nicely, wouldn't it? I mean, because they literally that was the mission they were flying from uh from two, you know, from two. It's like, oh, they're back again. Uh don't you know your way around uh Iran now? But uh yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um what else is uh gonna come out? Um I think that's up for me. Um hopefully Brooklyn 99. I doubt uh if they would, but that was a rumour. Um and Top Gun 3. Um Well, see, I'm seeing yeah.
SPEAKER_00As of April 2026, there is no official green-lit Brooklyn 99 spin-off, though recent uh recent cryptic tease from cast members, Hitchcock, has spurred rumours regarding a potential reboot or reunion five years after the show's 2021 finale.
SPEAKER_01That's what Ellen saw, because she sent me a picture that it was like a previous three-episode miniseries, uh Detective Skills with Hitchcock and Scully.
SPEAKER_00I never knew that. Did you see that? What was that? Is it Detective Skills? It's a spin-off of uh Hitchcock and Scully. No? Yeah, that's 2015. I might have to look for that, see what that is. But yeah, okay, so there's uh so there's just some uh rumors going around why don't he be nice to see.
SPEAKER_01Did um Ellen brilliantly got me for my birthday one year? Um that was basically some cheap aftershave, but she'd made up a label for it called you know the one where they got stuck in the department store to go and buy Canyon Stank for boyle. So I've still got it upstairs a bottle of Canyon Stank. I'm a stank man. Uh it's uh I I can't find that online anywhere. I thought you must be able to buy that, but you can't. There's a there's a marketing um opportunity there.
SPEAKER_00There we go. Yeah, there's there's plenty on there. There's plenty. Once you start putting the spin-off, you get plenty of hits on that. So yeah.
SPEAKER_01I didn't know that.
SPEAKER_00No, I didn't to be honest. No, uh not at all. Um cool. What else has been what else has been been going on then?
SPEAKER_01Um, other than my cooking, um, my dog walks, but plenty of dog walks this week. That's been nice. Weather's been not fantastic for the week off, but it's been classic. Out of the wind, the sun is strong. And as again, as a day walker, I feel that uh in and same on the golf course today. It was it was bacon up there by the sixth and seventh. Um but no, out with a dog plenty, she's she's been an absolute dreamboat, uh, she's doing lots of tricks, uh, and she's uh does as she's told, which is really throwing me and Fran because Maggie obviously you know she would go uh run away on the beach and not come back to you. Um but this dog um Iska does, and she can't blow the whistle and she's straight back at your feet. It's like, oh right, cool. I'm not used to this. Um that that's been quite nice over the week, just wandering around um and not really working, which is that's that's been the biggest thing is switching the work phone off um and just not having those constant messages, calls. Um nice, that's good, yeah. Yeah, yeah. It's coming next week, back to work with a bang.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, exactly. Of course it does. Yeah, you can't live work for that forever. But um good. Oh, nice to see. Nice to see. Right, cool.
SPEAKER_01Do we I was just gonna say sorry, you you haven't uh made it out this week. Um, obviously, since you've been running your own hospital.
SPEAKER_00Um honestly don't start off don't I just depressing. The weather's been absolutely epic here. Golf to golf. Honestly, it's been and and I was sunbathing uh one stage when I was at work, and I'm thinking and I've what was I've been I've been afternoons this week. So every morning I've woke up this glorious sunshine thinking I could play 18 year, I could have gone fishing, I've been no slaving over a stove, just getting spick and spam washing and uh Hoover reviews, yeah, exactly. Yeah, so and then uh yeah, so uh we'll see what next week's like. I don't think it's as nice next week, but um, hopefully um I might although now Anna seems to be almost fully recovered. I think I've got uh we're gonna have a bribery tomorrow with some more plants from another uh um garden centre. And once I've uh uh bribed her that, that'll be it. I think I'll be green lit then to at least try something Saturday afternoon, maybe Sunday, maybe just a quick nine holes.
SPEAKER_01Um just to ease yourself back into it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then I've still got a couple of lessons with uh my um they've got a package with, so I might need to um I need to play a bit more and see where I am with the bits he's given me before I move forward uh with that. But yes, it's certainly we're certainly uh into the uh weather-wise, you know, we just gotta keep up with the uh April showers. Um apart from that, it's yeah, um, it's all good.
SPEAKER_01So what about um fly fishing?
SPEAKER_00Um again, it's in the same principle here. I went when I go. Uh no, I I haven't had a chance. So we shall. Although I am I'm looking at the tides, I am thinking low tide tomorrow morning. I might squeeze if I get up early, I might do a couple of hours, get the um blooding tides for some sea trout down the road. Um just a couple if the weather's yeah, if the weather's not too if it's not raining, then I might just nip down there for a it's only an hour or so. See if we can pick up a nice little sea trout. If it's a decent size, I might try and uh um smuggle them away.
SPEAKER_01I am allowed to if anyone's listening from the uh I said we're looking forward to uh pictures of you um from the ocean to the plate.
SPEAKER_00Exactly, that'd be ideal, yeah. Um but uh no. So that's the plan. But I think now Anna's on the mend, fully recovered. I've now can business as normal um and uh get on uh get on. Well, she needs to she needs to be up and running because uh uh bank colony uh weekend in May. I'm off overnight for a uh for one night. I've got the Army Navy game down in the Londonian.
SPEAKER_01So uh you go into that, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00So uh um yeah, one night. This actually works out to be honest. I'm flying the same day on the Saturday morning, get the uh uh morning flight down there, which is cool. Um, and then uh although Anna's um injury will mean that I will have to drive myself or might get a bus up to Inverness. We shall see. Um she's not gonna be able to drive you then. No, no, no, that's what I'm saying. She won't be able to. I mean, I it'll be either I'm driving her, I'll get a bus or the train. Um I think I don't think the train makes uh you put a train station at the airport and it doesn't the train times don't match the first flight out of the uh airport. What what the what's the point? I know it frustrates me that's uh anyway. Um yeah.
SPEAKER_01What else you got on for the week then?
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna try and squeeze as much cold for fishing as possible, really. Uh I'm not gonna lie to you. I'm in morning, so it shouldn't yeah, afternoons um and late. Yeah, so I shall be uh smashing that in. That's my week. Uh I've got done.
SPEAKER_01I've got turf to lay, patio slabs to get sorted. I think well, actually, by this time next week, we'll have a a lawn and uh patio, uh as we will be calling it, um, in place. So uh exciting week ahead for us.
SPEAKER_00Um well you gotta get and you give take the uh take the gin deck out for a spin.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, uh I'll be able to assemble the um the table, the big table that is still in bits behind the back of the garage at the moment. So we'll be able to get that up um and then start printing the uh the putting lawn ready, ready for arrival. Um practice with one of those uh I'll need to get a what is it? A lab putter? Lab putter.
SPEAKER_00Well, uh nice to see you. You get you're getting all the lingo, mate. You know, it's good to see. So you know you know, you kind of know what kind of money you're gonna need. You're gonna get a lab put a putter and a uh ping driver. And then what you can say to Fran is look, all right, I won't take both. Pick one. Which one do you want me to get? That's all we need to do. Do you know what? Okay, I won't get a brand new one, I get a second hand one. How about that? And then you kind of then you that's how it that's how it works.
SPEAKER_01Uh give and take.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, exactly. Yeah, but uh, have you had a little look for the stats where we are?
SPEAKER_01We've done well uh this last week. We're we're we're breaking new grounds. Um we're we're there. I'm actually gonna look on all time. So we're we're in Africa. We have uh we're let's have a look at that stats. All episodes. Um yeah, there's been some uh where was it? We've been to a lot of countries now, actually. Um but we're in Algeria, Kenya, um where else was that? There was another one. Ethiopia, Kazakhstan? Kazakhstan, Ren. Um, but we also made it to uh we mentioned Mexico, but Uruguay, uh Colombia, uh Bolivia, um, Chile, so and Brazil. So South America is hotting up. Um, you might want to consider a holiday there.
SPEAKER_00Um yeah, well if that but if that Airbnb doesn't arrive from uh uh uh San Diego, then you might we might have to.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so uh but that that's I mean uh I like looking at these because there's places I've just never heard of um ever, um, and and will never ever go there.
SPEAKER_00It amazes me. There's these people that sit there and they find the podcast from these spots.
SPEAKER_01They accidentally stumble upon a podcast, the poor buggers, but uh I mean Venezuelania, there's one there.
SPEAKER_00So you sat there, you're giving it, you know, there you are under the new dictatorship from uh uh uh from Trump after you've been uh invaded, and you sat there and gone, oh we'll listen to uh podcast, shall we?
SPEAKER_01This this this will break us off. I mean, who's who's sat in Bangladesh going, I know what I'll listen to? And there's two, two I know.
SPEAKER_00I mean, you know, you made the mistake once, that's fair enough, but coming back again, mate, Iraq.
SPEAKER_01I mean, yeah, yeah. Christ, there's quite a few there in Iraq.
SPEAKER_00I know. Come on, coming on. Yeah, we're doing well.
SPEAKER_01I think um, and certainly with the um the the the the number of downloads and and and it's slowly what I've realized and and podcasting is clearly a slow burner, like you could be another three, four years into it, and then before it suddenly will take off. But and it is word of mouth, and it it will be stickers on the back of cruise ships that oh what's that? Or maybe uh a QR code or something uh to to put on the sticker. But when people start talking about it, like here, there's a few people who have been mentioning it, and they go, Oh, all right, I'll download that and I'll listen to that, and they'll see me next week and go, Oh, um, I was saying earlier, Nelly was listening to one of the episodes. It's just like playing catch-up every now and again, listen to one um you know, when they've got a bit of time, whether it's in the time shared or up at the stables.
SPEAKER_00So we're all I'd like to say, all I'd like to say to all these early early adopters, remember you were one of the early adopters. So we won't forget you. When we're big and we're famous and we're doing uh talk shows, etc., we'll remember the two listeners from Spain or Bangladesh or Bolivia, Italy, you know, and some of the some of the uh Cafilli, Milton Keynes, Hampshire, Fort William, Truro, Bobmin, Virginia, Berlin. You know, these people are there, you know. Just remember, you were the early adapters, you knew, you know, it's you can look back and you could, you know, like I don't know, Oasis when the uh when they were in Glasgow before they went um um massive. You just went famous. You were just in that early stage there before they just went and then took off. That's where that's where that's it's the cool kids, that's where it is to be.
SPEAKER_01That's right, you're absolutely and all you know, all those people in Vietnam who's caught as early doors, fair play, they're they're they are in that crowd. Um, they were there at the beginning. The the they won't be jumping on the coattails of uh of of the hangers on, they were there from the start.
SPEAKER_00Exactly. That's what's to remember. They'll know about uh uh Vic's uh travels and uh uh his running and uh his the understand the podcast is only an hour because that's all Vic trains for uh when he's doing his ultra marathons, he needs an hour-long podcast. Uh or I like to think to be honest, I like to think I I don't know why he's not listening to the podcast when he's doing a bit of painting and decorating as well. Next time you see him, I want to know that we've got we've we've made it to his uh uh site radio and he's listened to when he's doing a bit of painting and decorating as well.
SPEAKER_01Well, maybe maybe we could, but there's a there's a danger that he says he does an eight-hour day and he needs an eight-hour podcast.
SPEAKER_00You're right there. There's only so much I can witter on about that, you're right.
SPEAKER_01But um, quite quite impressed with the amount of downloads and the locations. That's what's that that baffles me. It's just um uh and and and those who repeat, they go back. So, yeah, once might be a mistake, but when you're back sort of 11 times uh in in this one city, one place, you think, yeah, that's that's that's more than a mistake.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and so make sure you contact us, uh but uh Buzz Sprout the page or the Spotify or the uh Instagram. Instagram, yeah. Um but we're all there, we'd love to hear from you. You give us your uh stories. We've got Digby, our famous sailor. Um, probably get picked up by the England squad at some stage, and he's saying this, Cabeça, we're waiting for the next Olympic, so hopefully we'll see him once.
SPEAKER_01Definitely, definitely Olympic call-up and um yeah. Anybody looking for uh any reviews of tech that Lee can do for you? Try before you buy, try try Lee's advice.
SPEAKER_00Uh exactly, I may have it. If you think about a new hobby and what to get for it, give me a shot. I've probably got the hobby in my uh garage or shed. That's why I needed to get that new shed to put them all in there. So they are there.
SPEAKER_01We should call and sublocate Lee. Uh um uh, what's your idea? I'll tell you the gear.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, exactly. That yeah, all the all the gear, no idea. Cool. Well, uh, thank you for listening to uh these listeners all around the world, and for those that have just stumbled across it and you've made it to the end of the podcast. So uh uh thank you very much for that, Dale. Um have a great week at work, mate, and uh I'll um uh speak to you next week.
SPEAKER_01I'll speak to you then. Thanks, man.
SPEAKER_00Looking forward to it mate. Cheer baby.
SPEAKER_01Bye.
SPEAKER_00Bye.
